I’m pretty sure George Wythe only graduates 4 or 5. If they can successfully replace Smith at QB, they will be loaded for bear.
Galax graduates 4 senior starters. If they can replace Ashworth and Tucker somehow, they should be in the mix again.
I think Fort Chiswell is going to take a step forward too. They return a lot of size and talent. With a solid coach now, they will continue to improve.
Grayson County will take a step or 3 backward unless they can find another crop of homeschool kids somewhere.
Ashworth and Tucker will definitely be tough to replace but hopefully they will have a some young kids step up and do it with a group effort. The oline should be good next year with only graduating one with that being the center. As for GW does anyone know if the QB is back or did he graduate? Grayson has a lot to replace as was already stated so I'm curious to see what Stephen James comes up with? Should be interesting next year in region C.
Riverheads offense is really hard to defend for 4 quarters, they start making small blocking adjustments and the other team seems to get frustrated and starts having kids being out of place and then they break one. People always talk about their offense but the defense is usually on point as well and rarely gets the credit it deserves. They will have their hands full trying to defend Radford but I'd say the coaches will have a good game plan and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't have another ring after Saturday.
I’m happy to be wrong. With only 4 seniors starting, it’s looking pretty good going forward. Shane deserves a lot of credit. If for no other reason than just keeping the kids pulling in the same direction after that 1-3 start to the season. He could have easily lost the team after that start.
I'm right there with you as I'm very happy to have been wrong about this young team. Next year's team will have two huge holes to fill with trying to replace Ashworth and Tucker.
I’m not sure if this is as bold as some people might think. Galax will struggle to break .500 this season!!!
You and I were both wrong about this year's team, I did say they might surprise some people if they could get their young line straightened out but I never thought they would make this far. Shane Allen deserves a lot of props for the job he had done with this team this season.
I listened to the interview and what was said surprised me, he doesn't seem to be worried about playing Galax and feels like they got um covered. He could be right but we'll all know for sure about 4-4:30.
I'm planning on making the trip to Fuller Field to see it. Other than they started slow and have been on a roll since mid-season idk much about Galax. Honaker looked unbeatable early and has faded a little down the stretch but are still very good, obviously.
I'm expecting a close game, both teams have beaten some very good 1A competition to get to this point.
Fuck you if you don't think its dirty FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!! Kids gonna miss all next season as well you dick!! you probably never played sports in your life dick!! Dont give a shit who was the better team not about that at all clown!!!! my name is bryan jollay just in case you are wondering!! peace out SWVA sports
I stated the road becomes much harder for them. And there absolutely have been people stating they won’t compete not in this thread but in both boards there have been several stating that. Again I believe they will be in final four very consistently.
Someone still needs to explain as to why Grayson got to play down and Riverheads didn’t except for the fact the assclown superintendent threatened a lawsuit.
In pretty sure GW has class 2 numbers next year as well, I think it's only by a few students but still class two numbers from what some GW fans said about the numbers. I'd that's the case Grayson and GW should be with Riverheads next year.
Anybody can have a talented crop of kids come through and make a run to Salem. See Chilhowie, Eastern Montgomery, Altavista, King William, Gretna, etc.
Riverheads has never failed to reach Salem since dropping down to Class 1 in 2015. That suggests something is wrong with the situation.
I understand that but regardless of how well Grayson does they still have class 2 numbers playing in class 1 next year
I will say this for those saying they can’t compete against two teams , you better believe they can. They do it week in and week out now. Are those the cream of the 2 A crop? No but Buffalo gap is certainly no slouch. They won against the tazwells and Glenvars each time they played them. Will they dominate like they have in 1A that remains to be seen but it won’t be as easy as a road. My opinion they will make final four for many years to come.
as far as people complaining about the numbers and claiming they will have an asterisk beside their name. To be honest a majority of the state feels that way and feel very strongly about it. Right wrong or indifferent, although the RH admin did nothing but fan those flames. The request to play down in 1A just solidified those beliefs. Again right or wrong that is the case.
Either way they was fun and maddening to watch at the same time. Lol
Is Grayson County going to be the same as what most consider Riverheads to be? They definitely have class two numbers next year and will be a damn good football team next year, so if Grayson makes a run next year and wins it all will they have an asterisk bedside their name as well?
One -Grayson superintendent is an whiny asshat that trolls people on social media and doesnt even know his schools history to speak intelligently to it on the local news channel. He threatened legal action with the basis of geography
Personally I think Stephen James is one of better coaches in class one football and he'll have a good game plan for GW this weekend. Coach Harner better be ready to make adjustments of they want to win this one.
Thoughts on this game? I give the edge to Grayson in coaching but I feel like GW has the better overall team. This game could go either way and should be a good one.
Long way to go, But Football season is never over- Who are the three best teams and three best rebuilding teams?
