You are very on point here.  Galax is wasting one of the best receivers in the state last year in 1A in a QB position in which all he is doing is handing the ball off to a running back. A running back I might add ran the ball 43 times  Friday for 280 yards.  Galax is running a power offense out of a spread formation but the line is foot to foot. So what they are trying to accomplish is beyond me. It seems to me they are just making it hard on themselves.  Grayson is running the same offense but as it was intended , with traps, counters, sweeps and short passing routes  mixed with deep shots.   The games I have watched of them the kids are playing their balls off only to have the coaches failing them by making things unerringly hard.

They put him out wide Friday night with the younger QB for a series or so. They have been working on some different things at practice and time will tell how much of it gets incorporated in games. They only have the two options at QB and as of now I guess they think they're going with the best they have.

  2. GW and PH both barley got by Rural Retreat and Grundy dismantled GW so if you by that alone you would give the edge to Grundy. I haven't seen and D teams in person other than the little bit i seen at the GW jamboree before the actual season started and I don't believe any contenders out of 1D were there that day. As of now I'm going with Grundy to represent 1d.

If GW beats Galax or losses by a close margin next Friday, then sweet holy mosses Grundy will have Region C on notice too!

Galax had 4 unforced turnovers and looked to be just going through the motions in the first half. Probably the worst first half they played in a long time. Fort is a middle of the road team at best but they play hard and the longer you let a team like that hang around the bigger chance they have at pulling the upset. If Galax plays like that against a good team they will get smoked. Galax has a lot of potential but they will have to clean up the mistakes and play full games instead of half a games if they want to make another run.

Now that we know the odds on favorite for 2D and and we all agree 1D is a toss up. Who will the teams out of D be facing coming semi finals and why?

My picks are Radford In 2C and 1C is a three way toss up between Galax , GW and Grayson with GW being favorites the way Galax offense is one dimensional this year in a bad scheme for it .

Grayson has played a weak schedule so far we will know how good they truly are in the coming weeks.

That could be true but it’s not what the superintendent, two principals, two members of school board and a city council member told me.

Gotcha I was thinking you said in Galax vs Giles thread the band director told you that Galax coach's had been invited to VA Tech game and Giles coaches were season ticket holders and they both wanted it moved.

Fort Chiswell principal told me this game was to be played on Thursday. Giles coaching staff would have to miss the VT game so they successfully got it moved to Saturday.

Thats twice so far this season Giles coaches have moved a game for VT football. Seems to me that could be a distraction.

I was thinking Galax and Giles both wanted their game moved to Thursday because of the Tech game on Friday?

Why was this game played on Saturday? Giles coaches decide VT games are more important than the high school games they coach?

If so, I can easily see that being a huge distraction.

Some of the Fort guys told me it was because of official shortage but IDK how accurate that is

It wasn't even subs. It was literally the JV not that it really matters. Graham also had two Bland players transfer. Don't really know much about them or their abilities or if they'll even see playing time but I saw Coach Hayes (Bland HC) there supporting them. I'm glad those boys got a taste of winning. Hopefully, GW only scores at will on the JV 😂😂😂😂. Actually, I hope it's a good competitive game.

Galax backup running back scored on Graham's backups, does it really matter? Y'all won the game, everyone that was there knows Graham was better. Both teams have some work to do if they want to make a run in my opinion. After all I read on here I didn't think Graham would have to pass as much as they did but everyone knows Galax weakness on defense is the secondary. Galax passing game still nonexistent but at least they completed a few last night. Of the three class two teams I've seen this year that were picked to make some noise come playoff time( Glenvar, Radford, Graham ) Radford was the most impressive talent wise but Graham is still solid and better coached in my opinion and I hope these two meet in the playoffs. I think Graham can definitely run the ball on Radford but I don't see them passing like they did against Galax on them, not saying they will not complete passes but it will be tougher to do so. If you give Radford's QB time he is going to complete some big pass plays. Intriguing matchup if it happens.

Game was not closer than 28-7, turnovers are part of the game and by your logic i believe GW had 4 turnovers and was still only down by 7 late in the fourth against Radford so one less turnover they win.  if galax doesn't get a passing game they will have a short playoff run this year. this week graham will show them how one dimensional they are. 42-7 is my take.

GW was lucky to play Radford first game of the year.... Radford played sloppy and had to many mistakes of their own doing.

I just realized that Grayson could be 6-0 when they come to Pearisburg on the 14th 😳

Schedule is fairly weak so I'd say that is a very strong possibility and they're probably much better than most thought they were going to be

Yes, it was a complaint. I remember last year the band got up and stood the whole game so more parents, etc. could sit.  The complaint came with a tongue-in-cheek joke attached. I do think it is unfortunate to have such a nice facility with minimal visitor seating.

I agree we need more visitor seating but I figure as long as the VHSL says we have adequate seating to host playoff games nothing will be done.

He was homeschooled so he entered kinda where he wanted.   He is a very old Junior I believe.

I'm sure they know of the age rule of not being 19 before August 1st of the school year you wish to compete in so  I'm sure he'll be fine for his senior year. Wish he would've come to Galax because he is a good ball player.

Grayson has an excellent group of athletes coming thru….. with addition of Gillespie kid they are going to be a force in all 3 major sports in 1A.

Shouldn't he be a senior this year? Coached him in sandlot one year at Galax and I was thinking he was just a year younger than my son who graduated this past year.

    Breath in, hold.......release.

It's a joke. I'm sure its not the Galax fans fault. As I am sure no one would seriously let only 175 people sit on the Galax side at The Mitch.

Hyperbole- to exaggerate for effect (used by a lot of comedians)

We constantly hear other schools complain about the visitor's bleachers so it's hard to tell if it's a joke or not....I wish they would put more in
