What’s amazing is there is a ton of good high school teams in the Knoxville area. Alcoa would be in 2a in Virginia.

It was in the first half because Central felt the need to go for it on 4th and goal a couple of times outside the 5. Those coaching decisions probably cost them the first game.

Most games this year they have. I think it's the old mindset that you have to establish the run. With RV, they need to come out throwing and work the run in. They would have a lot more success. Screens and short passes should be the majority of their offense. Once O'Quinn gets in rythm, they can put up points in a hurry. They've done that to every team on the schedule (except Abingdon). Just got down too much to Union and Bluefield in the half.

Glad Martinsburg was able to hold on. I'm sure it was getting iffy there in the 4th quarter.

The first time they weren't for it in the 2nd quarter was a hard decision. It was 4th and goal from the 4. If they kick the field goal (assuming it's good) your up 10 - 3. I felt like Richlands getting that stop was massive. They scored on a huge run a few plays later and the whole momentum flipped. I believe RV would have won by about 10 to 17 points without that quick momentum swin, but who knows. I have no evidence just a feel for how the game was going. On this one, RV will need some of the luck they had in the first game. I believe they've got to be pass first. Central will stop their run, but I believe there are big plays to be had if they will do short passes to Beavers. Put Hill at tight end or on the same side and pressure their secondary.

I agree with that. I've heard in UVA Wise case is that local players won't stay on the team long enough. Don't know about other schools.

Wouldn’t Morehead St be a better offer than UVA wise. I think they are FCS aren’t they?

I watched this on NFHS and it was a crazy game. First of all hats off to both teams. Neither one quit. I know most (including me) thought Ridgeview would win this game, but how it turned out I feel like this a huge win for the program. In the game, both offenses were able to get to the red zone, but both struggled. RV only scored on 2of 4 trips. Richlands’ had 5 field goals on their trips. Webb hit a big run in the 2nd quarter and the kickoff return late in the 4th. Rv just had no consistent running game which will probably cost them next week, but the kids need to enjoy this one.

It’s on NFHS and a Richlands station is carrying it. Cant believe WDIC isn’t covering it.

It’s been just effective enough for them. I just wonder if the field goals will hurt. Rv d in the red zone has been good

What is the pay rate for officials these days around here?

High school basketball needs this. I watched some games on NFHS last winter and it was amazing how teams hold the ball. 35 seconds is more than enough time.

I see this at a lot of games around here for some reason. A player shouldn’t have more than a couple or voices telling them what to do on the field. The big thing Turner needs to fix is bringing the QB to the sideline every play. That’s would fix most of your time management issues. Rick Mullins was a great coach, but that always annoyed me because it was worth at least 1 time out a half every game.

I feel like RV really needs this game for the program. They've not had that big playoff win yet. Just disappointments so far. I know they are favored and beat Richlands soundly the first time. A solid win here would get some good momentum headed too am assume game against Central.

That would depend on when they get up by 4 tds. If it’s sometime in the first half you keep the starters in for a bit. If it’s the end of the 3rd then you might pull them! I don’t see 4tds either, but RV can score quickly.

I’ve thought that to. Hill at TE would be very difficult for teams to stop around here. I know when they started running screens to him against Bluefield he was getting huge chunks!

I didn’t get to see this game, but some friends of mine said this was the best RV has looked all season. Hopefully they have some momentum built up heading to the playoffs.

A lot of people like to talk about that 1998 PV team, but I don't think that team would've beaten the 95 team. I remember the regional title game in 98 and Clintwood had the ball in a tie game in the 4th Qtr. Then in Clintwood fashion those days everything fell apart in a quickly and PV won.

Battle has best fan viewing in M7. Its also the only stadium in the district that doesn't have a track going around it! I understand the need financially when built, but the tracks just hurt the stadiums.
