I don't see how it will be possible to impose a tax only on residents of certain counties. I think if that becomes law, there will be plenty of suits filed and it would likely be overturned. I'm glad I don't live on the WV side...you all have nothing but idiots running things from the local level all the way up to the state level! The Bluefield City Board is an absolute joke in my opinion...

especially in Tazewell Co. will continue to decline...here's why... When the VHSL moved girls basketball to the winter, the Tazewell Co. school board decided that the middle school teams were going to have to "take a hit" due to the inevitable lack of "gym time" that this move by the VHSL created. The Tazewell Co. school board voted to move the middle schools basketball season to the late fall...between the end of middle school football and before the high school teams start their basketball season. This gives the Tazewell Co. middle schools about SIX WEEKS for their basketball season. Not only has the amount of time for basketball season decreased but so did the number of games and the number of other available schools to compete against. This lack of gym time for the middle school teams will really begin to rear its ugly head over the next few years when the already low quality of basketball in Tazewell Co. will drop even lower. Sure, most of these kids will be playing "city league" ball over the winter but they will be lacking the instruction of the basic funadamentals of the game since most of these teams are "coached" by well-meaning parents who are more like "baby-sitters" than "coaches". Darker days are coming for the already weak basketball programs in Tazewelll County...

Just on this side (west) of Salem. The high schoo actually sits on the north side of I-81 as you get into the Roanoke Valley proper, but you have to access the school from Rt. 460. I'm not sure if they will actually play the game at Glenvar HS though...I'll find out and let you know...

Both teams automatically advance to the State Quarterfinals. Last nights game determined the Region Championship and who would host the State Q-final and who would travel. Gate City will play at Glenvar in the State Quarterfinals...Galax will travel to Twin Springs for a State Quarterfinal matchup.

Western Pennsylvania IAL Class AA Championship game between Beaver Falls and Aliquippa??? WOW!!!! Remember the name LANCE JETER (6'3")...he will be playing D-1 ball somewhere! Anyway...back to the game... Aliquippa (Quips) was up by 6 with just over a minute left in the game...Beaver Falls (BF) comes back and Jeter hits a thirty footer at the buzzer to send the game to OT. First OT... BF is up about 6 with a little over a minute left. The Quips fight back and hit a driving layup to tie it as the last tenth of a second ticks off the clock. Second OT... Back and forth but the Quips have the upper hand again with just over 20 seconds to go. Jeter does it again, hitting a fall away three with his cousin (who plays for Aliquippa) right in his face to put BF up by one. The Quips come down and get fouled...they miss the first and make the second to tie. BF can't get a good shot off to win. Third OT... The Quips once again have the upper hand with about 20 seconds left up by four. Jeter drives and hits a layup to cut it to two. The Quips beat the press up the floor but the ball gets knocked away and tied up...held ball goes to BF with less than 5 seconds left. They throw the ball into to Jeter, he drives up the floor, crosses half court on the run and lets the ball fly from about forty feet...the bank is open!!! BF wins...79-78. Jeter finished the game with 37 points. They are already calling this the greatest WPIAL Championship game ever!!! Glad I got to watch it! Just for the record...these two teams were the best I've seen in the WPIAL tournament so far. I watched the Class A and Class AAA Championships last night and none of those four teams were very good. The Class AAAA Championship starts in about twenty minutes...
