  1. They met real wrestling, when they wrestled Grundy!
  2. Appy, Pound and St Paul told not to buy an sports equipment. Schools playing these three are already scrambling to find games to replace them NEXT year.
  3. The players!!!!!!!!! Sometimes you have 'em, and sometimes you don't. These young men have bought into the TEAM concept. A few years ago, it was all about ME concept.

    TV/Graham

There is a sucker born every day. Can you say hook, line and sinker!
  6. enough to get 4 first teamers. Duh!
  7. The ones picked were for offense not defense!
  8. I would think you could go out on the limb and wager a little more. Sure things are hard to come by.
  9. Wrong. 1997 Luke Owens senior year. Marcus Stiltner interception sealed the deal! Played at Richlands.
  10. Mike Mullins was listed as 6'8 292 pounds in the UVA 2001 press guide. He played for Graham around 98 or 99. About the same time Luke Owens went to Tech.
  11. He always started summer school by telling the kids who were there because they all had failed during the year "You are here today, because you are not all here". He also had the knack of "healing" or he had the kids to believe he did. Many times when someone came up and said they hurt their leg, he would convince them by walking backwards around the track for a time they would be alright. He taught at the elementary level the last 25 years and has hugged every kid and mother that has come through there. They even bought into the healing, and would stop by in later years to see if he could do anything for for the pain they were having. The "Newberryisms" as they have come to be known as, are still used every day. The stories he would spin were a clinic in themselves. Coach you will be missed, but you will live with us each day.
  12. Don Newberry former head coach and asst coach died of a heart attack today. Coach Newberry coached in 6 decades, starting in the late 50's and retiring in 2001. After retiring he was elected to the Buchanan County School Board, where he was still a member today. He will be greatly missed by the entire wave community. Good man who had a postitve influence on a heck of alot of kids. We will miss you Coach.
  13. 1st team made up of four district players of the year. Clinch Mt, LPD, Cumberland and Black Diamond. Leaves room for one more. Simpson is not the next best player, even from his own team.
  14. It is what it is. Sometimes it is better not to burn too many bridges. You may need to find one to cross back to the other side.
  15. The same reasons why no one in Virginia has hired him in the last four years. HIS REPUTATION!!!!
  16. It is little league on a high school level. Now every kid gets to play and get some type of trophy. This keeps parents busy trying to understand why the colleges are not giving their kid a scholarship. The end result is the kid made the playoffs along with every other kid in the state, and twenty years from now, he can tell everyone how he lead his 3-17 team to the regional playoffs!
  17. Looks like you have not read anything. Look at the other posts on the board, and you can find your answer.
  18. WRONG!!! Saunders should not be on the same list, those other names are on.
  19. Grundy won by 12. Led by as many as 23 late, but Richlands cut it to 9 with 2 minutes.

    Officating

It is hard to officiate bad basketball. If they called every thing the way it should be, you would be there all night.
  21. How come in the principal and ad meeting, they spent over an hour discussing this very comment? The Richlands ad, said his hands were tied because of who the kids were. Very classless. You need to quit defending what you do not know.
  22. Tell the men and women who fought or are still fighting, that it was not NEEDED. Or better yet, to someone who lost someone in 9/11.
