  1. [ QUOTE ] u say it WILL be an upset??? im from the burg and if u happen to walk out with a victory, it would most certainly be an upset. but i dont see it heppening. sowers is too strong of a threat, and he has 6-7 amazing recievers. good luck with that, but it wont happen for you. we're gonna give u a rude welcome to AAA football on friday nite. [/ QUOTE ] I had heard they had some classless fans one of the reasons nobody will play them. Guess this proves it huh? Talk is cheap, we shall see in a few hours who can back it up between the lines. May the best team win.
  2. [ QUOTE ] Graham shut out both Marion and Virginia High (who many thought could easily win), and held a strong Blacksburg team to six. [/ QUOTE ] Wait this is the same defense that gave up 35 points in two quarters to Bluefield right????? Or have we brought in a whole new defense and I missed it? Not too sure that Richlands will have to worry about scoring on the Graham defense anyway...Richlands will probably get two or three touchdowns on Special Teams....those guys can block some punts. Heck Va High almost blocked two or three against the Gmen Saturday night.
  3. [ QUOTE ] And lets not forget that the last player to walk on to play football for Marshall (Randy Moss) made it to the NFL. [/ QUOTE ] I doubt either of them "walked on" Marshall keeps a few scholarships tucked away for situations like these two, that is the only way they can get an athelete of this calibre. They have to have "stubbed their toe" somewhere else....Moss did it at FSU and Bradshaw at UVA. But I assure you both got a "full ride" at Marshall. No walk on status for those guys.
  4. [ QUOTE ] Bluefield looked really sloppy in the first quarter and a half...kinda scary don't you think??? [/ QUOTE ] I see the G-man must still be on vacation, what game where you watching? They scored on the first possession. What the heck do you want? I think it is only scary if you got to play them, ask Lilly how scary he thinks they are or Carlock for that matter?
  5. That is quite possibly the stupidiest thing I have ever read. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Why in the heck would you have your starting QB who has passed for almost 400 yards in four quarters (spent four quarter on the bench in the last two games) risk an injury getting banged on on every play? Get real guy.
  6. Awesome pictures....Hope you are gonna do that for every game! Keep up the great work.
  7. [ QUOTE ] prin. lost 28-7 [/ QUOTE ] Against a team that they should have beat by two touchdowns. They did not play well at all, they possibly could be worse than Graham. Looks like the Beavs will ring up their 2nd W of the season next Friday. My prediction: Bluefield 48 Princton 7
  8. [ QUOTE ] Well I have a great deal of respect for both schools, and this is one of the finest high school football rivalries in the nation. Both schools are well coached and both squads will be ready to play come Friday night. As for the winner....my guess is Bluefield will score early and often...they have a lot of threats offensively. Coeburn has a great arm and a bevy of talented targets to choose from. If the OL gives him time....look out G-men he will hurt you. A lot of this game is emotion and the Bluefield seniors have showed their class many times. Look at the last two efforts at Mitchell Stadium (Weir and PC) both games going down to the final seconds with David Purdue clutching a Coeburn pass in the South endzone to seal the deal. I don't think it will come down to that this Friday however. My prediction: Bluefield 42 Gmen 12 [/ QUOTE ] Darn...I missed it by a touch for both teams....did not count on Freddy calling off the dogs so soon after what Glynn did in 2001.....oh well guess he has more class in addition to being a better coach.
  9. [ QUOTE ] maybe graham will come out with yellow jerseys next week!!! [/ QUOTE ] That would be appropriate....after tonight's performance it would match the streak up their back.
  10. [ QUOTE ] i played with a really good one in high school mike shoda. had a 48 yarder against princeton our senior year very impressive. [/ QUOTE ] This is STILL the school record, but Lucas could change that this year I suppose. Mike was a great kicker.

  12. [ QUOTE ] To improve on the Graham side what I think needs to be done is use more seniors. Carlock has totally broken down the offensive line and there is only 1 senior on the whole line when you got three or four more senior linemen that could be used as an asset but he is choosing as I said to use the younger guys to get them more experience but its going to end up hurting Graham in the long run for this year atleast. Carlock is not letting this senior class shine, majority of the senior class are all experienced and have played since first day of freshmen season. They have put in their dues and its their time. But its just politics there I guess he would rather have the future teams looking better than this one. [/ QUOTE ] Well I played for Glenn Carlock when he was at BHS (yes that means I am an old fart) but I can tell you one thing. Glenn is gonna play his best players, period. He is not gonna get caught up in politics, year in school or any of the other things you mentioned. You don't get the kind of football program that Bluefield and Graham have by playing anything less than your best athletes.
  13. The varsity teams went three quarters Bluefield "won" 30-27 Nitro was huge and had a very effective passing game with a talented corp of receivers and a dandy starting QB. Bluefield is not likely to see that good an offense all year with the possible exception of Martinsburg. David Purdue was sick and not available and the offense looked like it was not wanting to "show" too much too soon. Defense played well I thought against a pretty potent offense. All in all both teams looked good for this early in the season. The Jayvee played one quarter and scored two touchdowns to Nitro's none.
  14. What is required is that every school be represented and BHS is represented usually by the principal or the AD, to have these gentlemen take time from their busy schedules to drive five hours to get a football and exchange films is stupid to begin with. I would much rather see Fred and his staff spend the five hours getting ready for the next opponent. Hey it must be working....we are making back to back trips to Wheeling. You keep on keeping on Coach. Who needs that media circus every Sunday morning in Parkersburg anyway. What is important is being ready to play on Friday night (or Saturday afternoon), and Fred has done a wonderful job in that regard.
  15. As long as #1 (Santmeyer) is healthy, they have a real good chance. The kid is a game breaker. The Beavers have to make sure this kid does not beat them, like the Oak Hill kid Grassley did. If they can contain #1 thou, they will put another trophy on the rack. The way to do that is to jump out early to a big lead, thereby not being in a position that when not if #1 breaks one, he will not hurt you. Strike early and often on offense and keep the ball out of the hands of #1 as much as possible. Good Luck Beavers.
  16. [ QUOTE ] Gilbert High won 38 regular season games in a row from 1982-1984 undefeated.Lost one game in 1985.From 1982-1985 39-1. From 1995-1999 record was 46-4 had 3 undefeated in that time frame.Gilbert all time record since 1976 is 215 win 81 lost, 7 undefeated season. We have had 3 losing season. [/ QUOTE ] Very impressive. How many state championships in this run?
  17. The City had nothing at all to do with the field being covered. This was done by private individuals at their own expense I might add, lots of volunteers helped too. To these folks, I say thank you. To the City of Bluefield, your taking credit for the condition of field is like the "rooster taking credit for the sunrise."
  18. They are really bad...they spend the entire broadcast running done the officials and they are clueless as to any of the rules....they mix, NCAA and NFL rules up with High School rules as to whatever suits the occassion. They should be replaced, without a doubt, they are a real embarassment.
