  1. Its making national news now as its been posted on USA Today's website with vague details...
  2. Was he maybe still on probation for the Underage drinking and resisting arrest while he was at UVA?
  3. Since we are getting in the spirit, what are some of everyone's favorite quotes or smack talk have you ever seen relating to the opponent team?
  4. Can someone post or show me a link that has a listing of all Bluefield-Graham scores since they first started playing through present and overall record? Thanks if someone comes through in the clutch on this.
  5. anyone know why Bluefield didn't try to play the game on Saturday and take LH out of thier rhythm?
  6. I hope I get a reply out of him. I sent him a very long, educated, factual NASTY letter. :-)
  7. Mr. Hayden will definitely be getting an e-mail from me. Thank You!
  8. Help us out bro by posting whether you are talking about the boys or girls. I almost had a heart attack thinking James Monroe boys team was #5...LoL
  9. I think the moderator should be someone close to Grundy Wrestling..all I can say is WOW...
  10. Do you have that e-mail address you been mailing to by any chance Tom?
  11. Congrats to Gate City and congrats to Radford on a well played game. And congrats to Colobro over at Gate City. I find it amusing that the people of Gate City love thier coach despite finishing behind Radford most years and are not turning against him like *GASP* some Bluefield fans.
  12. As bad as Wheeling was..I'd be willing to give any site a chance. I'd even choose Mt. View's field on a rainy day over that slop last weekend...
  13. Lance hit it right on the spot. I guess it makes way too much sense instead of cents though....but seriously they could find ways to make much more money if the bowls were more important like Lance stated...
  14. Well..we wouldn't be claiming it as the reason we lost, but any fans who attended the game or saw it on TV saw a field which was a WRECK. Teams could have petitioned to play away from that field in the playoffs. By the Single A game it would have done you more good to figure out the percentage that was completely mud than was grass. And to be honest they are going to have problems getting that field prepared by the beginning of next year if you ask me... The SuperBowl hasn't been played in a cold region in years now and there is reason for that. Lets give teams homefield advantage to make the regular season important but lets play the Superbowl in a dome or in warm weather to see who the BEST TEAM is....makes sense to me...
  15. By the time the Single A game was played the area of the field that was grass was much less than the area covered by mud......something should definitely be done or the games will be mud wrestling struggles for some time to come or even worse..someone is gonna get really hurt.
  16. If they would just take the time to think this whole thing out, I am sure they could come up with ways to make thier $$$$ AND create a better system....I think the money "clouds" any thought of changing at all...
  17. If anything else..Bluefield was trying something new. Bluefield had been going up on Thursdays every year and it only got them 1 championship out of 4 tries. So this was a change for Bluefield and sadly they are 0 for 1 by going up on Friday, but I am not sure if that is even relevent. To be honest, I am starting to think that when you leave really doesn't matter...they both have thier pros/cons...
  18. I think the best way of solving this problem is to "indeed" go to a playoff scenario. The way this should be handled is to make the "bowl" games the first round of the playoffs. This way you still make the games important and money making and then you can still make money from the later round games. A second tournament could also be created for Non-BCS schools......I think this is a good base foundation for the way it SHOULD be done...
  19. I actually think it was a good idea to bring the team up on Friday. There are many benefits to that such as the players sleeping in their own beds and getting good rest, they got an actual day for an actual practice instead of rushing or having minds on the trip, etc. One other thing...years back some Bluefield teams have got the reputation for not being focused when put in a hotel room before a championship situation in both basketball and football. I think one group did indeed do this and has messed Bluefield's rep up so bad that everytime Bluefield loses a championship game or gets eliminated that people start rumors of "partying" and being "out" at night....this way there were no rumors win or lose...
  20. At some point, yes you do have to be happy with "runner up" There are many schools who would have died for the trip to Wheeling alone. For now it hurts us fans, especially since this seemed to be thier year, but it didn't work out and yes we are still hurting from this loss, but most of all the players are hurting. I am just tired of these excuses...coaching, weather, etc....when these kids get home they should be told "good job" and not "what happened?" And they should be told that the ball didn't bounce thier way and not "it was the coaches fault!" We don't need excuses anymore and I am sure the players aren't using any at this moment, but if people keep planting these things in thier head then they are going to start pointing fingers and we don't need that. These young boys will be men one day and they need to learn not to make excuses for themselves, but if people keep making excuses for them..it may be a lost cause. And the person who may be hurting the worst is Coach Simon....I know for a fact he worked his tail off preparing for this game and I don't believe he was outcoached this year, it was more of an example of different coaching styles..he had his team in postion to win..they execute and nobody is questioning him. These coaches and players do indeed deserve a pat on the back..there is no reason for anyone to make them feel any worse. The game was there and Poca rose to the occasion and not Bluefield, NUFF SAID.
  21. There is really nothing that Buzzsaw or GMENFOOTBALL posted that I can disagree with. The delay of games were indeed the coaches fault...that has always been a problem with Bluefield for years. I played for 4 years there and still don't understand how we get the delay of game penalties. Sometimes the coach gets it in late..sometimes the QB reads the signals wrong or can't read them at all...a new system is definitely needed or at least a coach who can get the signals in or a QB who can read them...
  22. One other thing to note.....I too wondered about kicking a field goal. Poca also got the ball within the 5 yard zone and went out on downs also despite having a decent kicker. I wonder if the conditions were worse than I could imagine for kicking or what?!? I don't think one shot at a FG would have hurt anything and even if you miss then you know for certain you wouldnt be able to kick and besides...it could have been an extra rep of snapping-putting the ball down-and kicking that may have led to not busting up that XP try.
  23. I can't beleive some of you are just blaming this on the coaching staff.... Other than the numerous delay of game penalties and a few bad moves. But the fact is..Bluefield's coaches put them in position to win. In a field-battle possession type game...Simon had his team up 14-7 on Poca's side of the field with 9 minutes when Bluefield fumbled. Did Coach Simon fumble that ball?!? If Blufield executes the drive, then this is all a moot point. Yes the coaching staff has thier problems, but most do and you have to take the good with the bad sometimes. The pass-happy playcalling in OT was a bit erratic and scary considering we hadnt passed well all game, but indeed..it got the job done and a TD (thanks to a PI call) but once again it was the team who couldn't get the long snap down for the kick. I'm not saying that some of the blame doesnt belong to coaches but to put it all on the coaches is ludacris. The players themselves were in position to win and Simon told his team to hold on to the ball in the 4th and they would be champions and I believe if they do hold on to the ball, no one is questioning the coachs' ability.
  24. Frustration is a key word. For Goodness Sakes Get The Play In!!!!!!! How many times have we seen that this season?!?
  25. Great job Bluefield. This game could have easily swung the other way...its the way things work out sometimes and life works just the same...but ya just keep on going with your head up and something good will come out of this for those who do. CONGRATS on a great season Bluefield!
