  1. Well three things if you count the inflatable helmet. It always looms large.
  2. Two things loom big for me in this. One is Howie's health. If he can't contribute in a big way, it's a big swing Graham's way. The other is the development of some of Graham's players, i.e. Reed, since the last contest. Should be a good one.
  3. I like the inflatable helmet. It's cartoonish. The way it kinda jiggles around when they are in it,,,, reminds me of Jabba The Hut.
  4. It's gonna be a battle, plain and simple. Anybody can win this one. Did I say that? Hmp.

  6. I can only give myself as an example. Lifelong resident of Tazewell county. Went off to college and returned to Tazewell county. In March my job left the area and went to Roanoke. I moved my household's two professional positions and Tazewell County student to Franklin County. I'm only one.

  8. It didn't used to be when you had guys like Chuck Louthan and Ronnie Duncan coaching.
  9. No one to impress with a big score. Not gonna take a chance with prize horses in the rain. 41-10 Graham.
  10. Graham, and it ain't close. Two weeks off is huge before playing Giles.
  11. I look for Graham to jam the receivers at the line and try to stop them Carlock style. Blitz blitz blitz and try to shake up the QB. They will live or die by the blitz. Offense? Who knows? They are as wild as a backyard pickup game and may even let Meade draw the plays in the dirt. Chaos is to them as mud is to a pig. They are hard to match athletically and know how to use weapons selectively. Who wins? I got no idea.
  12. Mookie out: 31-28 Graham. Bluefield will be too thin in secondary. Mookie and Reed out: 51-21 Graham Everybody healthy: 52-48 Flip a coin
  13. Yes, Richlands consistently beats other schools in far swva.
  14. Giles is west of Roanoke. Salem is west of Roanoke.

What happens to the Richlands season if the the QB goes down to injury? Everybody has a soft underbelly somewhere. Could this be their's? I know Graham will be deep at skill positions, but questionable on the line. And defense? Soft till proven otherwise.
  16. As someone who as been impacted by the dying local economy (this season I'll be a Franklin County Eagle), I just wanted to open discussion on where the condition of our favorite sport is headed. The entire staff of my office was shipped off to Roanoke this spring. I feel blessed in that I had a job to ride out of here on where many of the jobless will have launch out on faith. Point is coal will never return like we knew it, if ever. The gas industry has shrunk tremendously as well. Consol, the grand old employer, gone. The railroad, downsizing quickly with no end in sight to the cuts being made. All this is bound to have impacts on our schools. In my opinion, I see the success of the local programs depending on how consolidation falls in place. Read, "The Bluestone, Home of the G-Dogs". I can see the schools along the I-81 corridor avoiding much of the slide, with those deeper in coal country slipping in competitiveness regardless of consolidation. The question mark for me is schools such as Gate City and Union. Will the effect of the Tri Cities keep them up, and drive them well past others on the region? Bluefield I think stays competitive as it continues to fall in classification. The question is who else in the Mountain State falls with them. It's a simple fact folks, we are on the ropes and it ain't looking good. Discuss.
  17. Lots of positives for the G-men to take away from this tough loss. They played hard with intensity and swagger. Please don't lose that. The defense played well against the fastest backs they will see and against a big experienced offensive line. They tackled very well. They got stung by some big plays, but I would say it was close to one to one on big plays verses stops in the backfield. The offense is definitely loaded with weapons and I think we will see this more and more as the team and staff move forward. I think there have been some great improvements year over year that individual players have made. And Cousin, dang! How did we not see this coming? Haven't seen anything like that at Graham in a long time, maybe ever, if you consider his swagger and performance. I'll be there next week, all y'all should be too!
  18. I think Bluefield this year is very similar to the 2003 G Men. Their success rides on Reed's success, much the way AB led the the GMen to the semi finals. The Beavs will be very dependant and on him being healthy, so I expect him to see periods of rest that will subdue his numbers. But, as said, he's still the cream of the crop in the area. Just hoping for a great game!
  19. Cockroaches, The Bible, and the G Star. What are the last 3 things that will be left on the earth?
  20. Not sure how I feel about it. But if it works for the players and staff, then it doesn't matter even a little bit what I think. I'll back them because of the character they hang the colors on. I only hope the change does not come from an "everything Wiiliams did was wrong" attitude. One, because that is not true. And two, that kind of spite would only hold the program back.
  21. You put Ahmad Bradshaw and Heath Miller on a list, set it aside, and discuss from there, starting with the Joneses. No love for Housewright flying around here?
