  2. But was the player upright when they had control of the ball?
  3. Montgomery Brewster would be proud of the state of Nevada.
  4. Helped his wife coach GC volleyball this past season I believe.
  5. Ive heard about 10 applications. Mostly local assistants and a couple of NC. Dont know much detail wise though.
  6. In the Cumberland I believe every tourney game will be at UVA WIse again this year. Eastside has the top seed locked up in both boys and girls. Currently I believe this is the Cumberland Standings going into the final week of the regular season: Boys Eastside 9-0 (@ Castlewood Friday) Twin Springs 5-3 2 games left with JIB) Rye Cove 4-4 (@ Castlewood Wed, @ TW Friday) Thomas Walker 4-5 (Host RC Friday) Castlewood 2-6 (Host RC Wednesday, host Eastside Friday) JI Burton 1-7 (2 games left with TS) Girls Eastside 9-0 (@ Castlewood Friday) JI Burton 5-3 (2 games with TS) Rye Cove 5-4 ( @ TW Friday) Thomas Walker 4-5 (Host RC Friday) Twin Springs 3-5 ( 2 games with JIB) Castlewood 0-9 (Host Eastside)
  7. The color green in general is an issue with how it reacts to light. Just drive by and look at any green tin roof. It can all come from the same manufacturer with the same manufacturing date but some will fade and change colors at different levels.
  8. Bonanza management thanks you for keeping Crigger away. We can add one to that tally from football season also.
  9. Wicks or Bubba at Castlewood would probably make the Reese family happy with their styles of offense if they took over at Lebanon.

Sorry meant to quote Jag52 instead of Hokie Bound on that.

Its probably a pay cut moving from being a teacher/coach at Holston than it is to Lebanon though also which is one thing to consider. Russell County I believe has one of the lower pay rates for teachers and coaching stipends. I may be mistaken though.
  12. Just saw a tweet from Andrew McClung that Lebanon will begin the search for a new football coach.
  13. Did Garrett miss much time in that game? Saw a headline he took a rough fall possibly but was able to return.
  14. Talking to a Burton basketball parent Wednesday and said he expects her to play tonight. Burton just went back from Christmas break yesterday, so I think that was one thing that had to happen before she could play but I may be wrong there. She was in warmups on the Burton bench Tuesday at the Cove.
  15. Sullivan East just had a kid commit to Colorado for next year. Somewhat surprising. Corbin Laisure a TE who will have to add weight. 6-5 218.
  16. I saw the score posted two different ways last night so I wasnt sure who had won as each had the other winning.
  17. That would be Lebanon's QB and his dad.
  18. Tried to get in the way enough to make it too late to get off but also not foul. I can’t blame the reasoning. He got it off with maybe a tenth to spare.
  19. I wouldn’t expect them to but Konnor Early now joining the team definitely helped. Not sure if it was his fret game or not but dropping 27 on Eastside to start the year was impressive.
  20. Lebanon beat Ridgeview tonight. They will play Shelby Valley tomorrow. Should be a tough test for the Pioneers.
  21. Lee knocks off Eastside 55-49 to kick off the tourney.
  22. PH also beat TS by 3 in Nicklesville. The Hogo has the better teams no doubt about it at the top this year. The Cumberland is very young overall. RC returns the most depth but is still very young. They are starting to get their basketball legs so hopefully they will have it together coming out of this tourney when district play starts next week.
  23. Listening to the Dorman broadcast was entertaining. George WY-th. Smoky Mountains. Also them saying “this isn’t the typical team Dorman would lose to. We are bigger and more athletic on each position on the floor. I can’t believe it. We would normally blow a team out like this one.”
  24. To me a legend in the area. Sarge was a long time assistant for Harry Fry at Gate City. In the late 70s he took over as the lead Dawg at Appalachia stepping down in 79 after a 7-3 campaign handing the keys to Tom Turner to take over. Sarge then took over the Rye Cove program in 83 and got the broke on the brink of a state title in 88. RC had defeated Jonesville at Jonesville near the end of the regular season before losing to the Dogs in a mud bowl in the region finals during the improbable run for the crew from Jonesville. Sarge stepped out of coaching after 1990 but returned to the Cove in 97. He was to be he HC but took the assistant title instead so a former player, Joe Carter could be the HC. Sarge still ran almost everything for the program for the next three years which were some of the programs winningest teams. He took over the Twin Springs program in 2003 as they were coming out of a really rough stretch. I asked him why he was heading up there. Coach told me he liked a challenge and had coached at GC and RC, he might as well mark off the last county school before he retired for good. Coach stepped down after only two seasons. He led TS to two of their programs three region final games during those two years. Coach Reed wasnt flashy. He wore the same clothes to practice everyday and its hard to tell how many miles had been put on his 80s Thunderbird. He expected you to be physical as he said he only felt like he had lost two ballgames when his teams were the most physical one on the field. The playbook wasn't super deep on either side of the ball but like the nickname "Sarge" practice was drilled like military over and over to run things to perfection. He commanded respect but showed his "bigguns" a lot of love over the years. RIP to a SWVA coaching legend in my book.
