Expected. We just simply weren't a very good football team this year, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. When we couldn't stay on the fortunate side of the injury bug, kinda had a feeling it'd play out this way. @sixcat good game, my friend. I've walked away from regular season games in the past where we have gotten handled, and I thought "We can beat those guys in the playoffs." We've actually came out and did it, too. But this isn't one of those times. This Galax team is as good or better than any I've seen them field in the past. Good game and congrats to you Maroon Tide faithful. And I'm not down on GW in any way at all. I know we have a very, very good football team here this year. I just think Galax is on a completely different level than anyone else in 1A West, and it's not even close.

Agreed. Always fun to watch Dixon’s adjustments on the fly. Been a different game since bringing weak side pressure.

The Simmons/Thompson combo has been a real joy to watch this season. Thompson is also a very good defensive player as well. Add in Wells' steady production at RB, and this has been one of the more fun GW teams to watch for me personally. No doubt in my mind that Galax has a huge advantage in the trenches. Like I said earlier, I just hope we gather up enough big plays to make this a game in the 4th quarter with a chance to win it.

Our defense concerns me in this one. I think it will come down to big plays, and I hope we can muster up enough of them to keep this thing close in the 4th quarter with a chance to steal it late. Are we capable? Sure. But I know it's a tall task. Dixon and company will have his kids prepared.

Kinda feels like to me that Radford is trying to find themselves again after some critical losses. However, they are still a very, very good football team. Great job, and hats off to Richlands....Huge win! Watching how 2D shakes out come playoff time is going to be a lot of fun!

Was really worried about this game. Nothing but respect for Gate City players, fans, and program altogether. Kids played hard to the end, and the fans cheered the whole way thru. Even the band kept playing long after the final whistle. You guys have always been the gold standard of what SWVA football is all about. Best of luck going forward! I'll definitely be cheering for you guys.

I vividly remember a few years ago when GW was visiting Northwood, and the game was delayed for 30-40 minutes so a small sinkhole that formed mid-game could be filled with dirt. Good times! At the end of the day, the field this game is played on isn't going to matter, but never did I ever think I'd see the VHSL move a game to that location because it was more "fit" for a semifinal game.

Didn't make it tonight due to work, but listened to the Galax broadcast. Heckuva game, man.

We had a crew here for a long number of years that was worse, but they were so bad it was comical. Their best performance ever was when our play by play guy had a case of the hiccups the entire second half. I've never enjoyed a GW broadcast I was forced to listen to more. I've heard some G-Man fans complain about those guys for a while, and they are definitely right. I lost IQ points tonight. I like tater chips.

I'm so, so glad I wasn't the only one who thought that broadcast was terrible. After it went 27-0, I had to kill the feed.

We've had differences in opinion in the past, and make no mistake, I've always loved and respected you love for our boys in Maroon. Besides, you went thru the program like I have, and you've paid your dues by paying it forward to teaching our youth like I did. Don't take this as Blaster Bashing 202, by all means....(I have graduated from the 100 level to the 200 level, right? lol) This game will be a dogfight. It won't be easy. I sincerely expect this to be a one score game in the end. I haven't predicted games in years on these forums, because I've seen too many times over that will bite you in the ass. Just win, baby. I don't care if it's by 1 or 100....That in itself will be tough next week. Just gimme that 1 point difference and lets move on. That's all that matters at this point.

Completely agree. This team is no joke. If they get the ball in their hands in a one possesion game, it's a struggle. I trust our kids' will, but it will no doubt be pushed against this squad. Like I said, gotta maximize our possessions. No doubt about it, I feel we can. However, I'm also well aware of the challenge it presents if we don't. I do LOVE the energy GW is playing with right now, and I do love the way the defense is playing....But this will be a war. Both teams will be drug thru deep waters. It's just a matter of who handles it best.

Will be a tough game for us. PMC is the type of team that historically gives us trouble. Some of our kids have seen Nelson a couple years ago when we played Auburn in the 2nd round, so we definitely know what kind of beast we're lining up against. No disrespect to anyone, but this was the one team I was truly worried about when I saw the playoff draw. We're really going to have to take advantage of every scoring opportunity we get...PMC will play ball control and limit our possessions.

Three of the last five years we've opened the playoffs against Twin Springs, and the one thing that remains constant in my eyes is that TS always plays hard and never quits no matter what the situation or score. Not a single kid drops their head, and not a single fan leaves. I respect them so, so much for that.
