I don’t think Tazwell is bad and they’ve only lost to very very good teams. But what’s their best win? The really good team they beat to prove they were truly a top tier team? RV wasn’t very good by the time they played. I think they are on the same plane as GC this year. Capable of beating decent teams, could knock off a big name on the right day but just a step behind the top of the region.
I just said who they lost to & what their records are. Didn’t really mean anything more than that. They beat everyone else on their schedule so there’s something to be said for not losing a game you’re expected to win.
Can’t control having Richlands, Marion, VA High & Lebanon on the schedule. Out of district schedule didn’t look bad when scheduling it. Playing Union tight at BSG was hopefully a big step in the right direction.
I think most teams around here would finish with 3-4 losses playing that schedule. Just gotta figure out going forward how to cut those to 1 or 2.. or 0 would be better.
next year will be tough opening up with away trips to Princeton & Riverheads in weeks 1 & 2.
The team they play in football in the semis will be a load in wrestling for the Big Red. The Bull Islanders are a machine in wrestling much like Riverheads is, and they have a lot of titles.
True, but they got away from Grundy.
Are they better off in 2A in wrestling? No Grundy or Rural Retreat. Honest question.
Deep down, and zero chances they would admit this, but the Princeton coaches know tonight's game is the last win of the season. It's just an entire different level of football with Martinsburg and Huntington. Not to mention, a gigantic student population difference between them and Princeton which speaks to why WV should arguably go to 4 classifications.
For Princeton, the season is more than a success. It's very close to bordering a title. It's not a title for sure, but their season will be talked about for decades. Princeton has I think 850ish students? They have zero business in the WV Triple A state title game being that small of a school for the highest level of football classification in WV. It's really amazing what they have done in my opinion.
The 4 class system that WV uses for basketball seems to be working well.
For anyone who was at the game yesterday. Did anyone happen to get a picture of good sportsmanship displayed by number 12 Aidan Lowe at the end of the game.
