    SWD 2006-2007

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] yeah Cole started...Workman's first game back was the Richlands playoff game... [/ QUOTE ] beano5 is correct...for once... [/ QUOTE ] Actually, Cole has not lost a game as the starter. His first action was in the middle of the 3rd quarter in the second Beaver game. He started until the Tazewell playoff game which was played entirely by Ronnie Workman. As was the second Richlands game. We as Graham fans are going to have a lot to look foward to in the next three years with Cole at the helm. All those Beaver fans seem to forget that Cole lit them up for almost 200 yards in a quarter and a half. They will remember soon........
  3. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Bluefield - 35 Graham- 14 [/ QUOTE ] Now see this is a score I can see cause honestly how can you say bluefield is not loaded this year when everyone that is starting this year either started last year or got mad playing time and lets not forget bluefield is not like graham where as they have two main running backs and bluefield is so loaded in the backfield that they could loss a player or two and still be fine. and if u havn't heard word on the street is that the loss of big carter dosn't hurt them and is said to only make them better adding more speed to the backfield. [/ QUOTE ] A backfield is only as good as the line blocking for it...so how is Bluefield's line going to be this year since they lost at least THREE multi-year starters off the OL... [/ QUOTE ] Funny it seems to be all the Beaver fans talking smack about how they are going to thump us this year...... A little role reversal I think....... Should be a good game, Bluefield will be Graham's toughest test in the 2006 regular season for sure. I hope we are fortunate enough to win.
  4. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I was just wondering where Marcum was going to play college football at? [/quote In his mom and dad's living room on his playstation 2...... [/ QUOTE ] CPF,your living proof that they"ll let any ******* post on here....low blow and completely outta context for the post..you must of been one of the ones with cleat scars on your back from where he ran over ya sorry arse..Id bet a playstation is probally as close you ever got to a football field without buying a ticket.."Jealousness breeds contempt" so I imagine The kid will have to see a lotta of this crap for some time to come..A lotta shoulda, woulda, coulda"s in the world, he"s a doer..Whatever he decides to do Im confident he"ll be fine... [/ QUOTE ] Blah,blah,blah.........you must have the other controller.

  6. [ QUOTE ] You should probably change that to "Graham and Richlands fans think they have done won the SWD!!!" I haven't seen any coaches claiming to have it all wrapped up, and except for the occasional cocky (athletic arrogance... It's a good thing!) player, I think they all know they have to play the games. As a fan, I can give my opinion because that's what this message board is for. So here it is. 1 - Richlands. They haven't lost a district game since 2003. They lose some great players but people seem to forget the guys taking their place have more game experience than most teams returning starters. Success breeds success. 2 - Graham. Best team Richlands played last year and they have a ton coming back. If they had pulled out the win in the playoffs against Richlands I have no doubt they would've made it to Lynchburg. 3 - Carroll County. Never really know anything about them so #3 (the middle) is the safest pick. 4 - Tazewell. They'll play Richlands and Graham tough but forget to show up for everyone else. 5 - Grundy. I don't know what to think about Grundy. Most people (including me) thought they would do a lot better last year... If there is a team that could surprise everyone it's Grundy. [/ QUOTE ] LOL, I bet that wasn't the anwser he was looking for.....
  7. [ QUOTE ] i'm curious as to why richlands fans tend to turn out in mcuh bigger #'s than other schools.......we always (even on the road) have a bigger crowd than the other team......any explanation???.......and success is just one part.....graham has successful teams but not as big a crowd.....(throw out graham-bluefield) [/ QUOTE ] I have never saw more people from Richlands at Mitchell Stadium than Graham folks. I know you had a good year last year, but lets not get too drunk off your sucess. The reason more Graham folks don't come to Richlands is because of your crappy visitor bleachers. Another team that travels exceptionally well is Salem, always have. But to say Richlands is the best travelling team is ridiculous.

    New SWD

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Abingdon will bring a higher level of competition which I think we need. [/ QUOTE ] In football??? HA! That's funny right there... [/ QUOTE ] Abingdon may not be competitive as much when they join the SWD, but this year we will be. We are bringing back almost everyone, plus people who deciding to play and back from injuries. We had 3 players who woulda played offensive line last year injured (1 a senior), and thats what I htought hurt us the most, was our line averaging about 200 lbs across. This year should be 230 ish with more power and knowing what to do. The only real problem for me is if Henderson starts to think he is on Richlands team, throwing more to their guys than our own (Even he laughs at that now). I wouldn't mind to play against Graham, maybe you will beat us, but I don't think it's because of we don't want to. I just can't believe it's 3 months away, gonna be a good year for football [/ QUOTE ] So you return a bunch of guys from a terrible team with terrible coaching. You are still terrible. Still would finish last in the SWD. Better get used to it.......
  9. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Well, I can assure you of one thing. Tazewell is not in the equation. Especially with that quarterback you played against us in the second game. He was pitiful. Enjoy 3rd place cause it's the best you do in 2006. Have they done bought there tickets? LOL [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] how you just gonna talk pure **** like that [/ QUOTE ] I just did it, and your team can't do nothing to stop me, that is why.....With 3 wins against Graham in 18 years, Tazewell shouldn't say anything about Graham until you at least beat us 2 years in a row.
  10. [ QUOTE ] the Subject read!! Heard Graham has ticket this year to champions!! Well, I can assure you of one thing. Tazewell is not in the equation. Especially with that quarterback you played against us in the second game. He was pitiful. Enjoy 3rd place cause it's the best you do in 2006. Have they done bought there tickets? LOL [/ QUOTE ]
  11. Actually it comes thru Mitchell, as you guys come to our house this year. Hopefully twice.
  12. [ QUOTE ] Just heard that the famous Terry Smith was on his way out. Anyone know anything about this. If true would be a great job to have. [/ QUOTE ] Why is that? Va High hasn't been a threat to win anything in 25 years.......And the best you can hope for now is 2nd in the new district.
  13. [ QUOTE ] Gotta love the fact that some of the Graham people are all ready stock piling the excuses for a loss. Mighty confident aren't we? Carter was shut down after one half in the first game, and did nothing in the second game. It's going to be another great game for sure, but Carter won't be the reason you win or lose. "Well, the only reason you beat us was because you had a 20 year old playing at fullback and linebacker." [/ QUOTE ]
  14. [ QUOTE ] with more starters coming back than in 2005.......everybody forgets that rhs started last season after losing 17 starters from the previous year...i'm expecting big things from underclassmen like ben addison, austin fuller, romulo fahardo, chase fuller, matt davis, shane wicks.......all these guys proved they could play at a very high level last year... [/ QUOTE ] Sometimes its not how much you lose, it's what you lose. I think Grundy only lost like 9 kids from the 2004 team, then the bottom dropped out. And they returned the QB, and starting RB like you guys. You basically have to replace your line and defense. Which is where your football team is basically built. Good luck with that.

[ QUOTE ] and as far as your "business is usual" comment, while it might be true that graham has been a dominant team in swva over the last 25 years the reason for that success has been the quality of coaching. there is not some magic quality in the water in bluefield that makes their players better than players from other towns. great quality coaching year in and year out builds programs to the level that all the good athletes in the school want to play that successful sport. grahams coaching staff has been matched in richlands and therefore graham is not "king" of the swd anymore. you guys were fortunate to have coach carlock stay for so many years. he knew how to build a program. the same is now true of the coaches in richlands. i know that the coaches at graham are very good and do not expect that program to fall off. I am just saying that you guys better expect to battle richlands from year to year for the title [/ QUOTE ] With 4 of the last 7 district titles I think we are still the kings until someone gets more. Richlands has what 5 district titles in the last 35 years and you think you are on equal footing with us? Come on. Talk to us when(if) you win that third title in a row. If you win it this year, you can say that, but over the long haul you can't. Richlands had questionably the best team they ever had this year. And you still only beat us by 6 on your home field in a game decided in the last two minutes. Hardly dominate. You were a little better than us last year. It may be different this year.
  16. [ QUOTE ] "Is that really the name of the new school? What's the history behind this name?" are you serious? [/ QUOTE ] Purely specualtion, no name has been picked or approved for the school. Besides that will tick off alot of people in Iaeger..........

    Graham

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I dont think that Graham has had near the sucess over the last ten years as Bluefield has. Hasnt bluefield played in the last 4 state title games in WV? [/ QUOTE ] Admit it Tid_Bit...half the SWD could/would make it to the WV AA Title game if they played in WV...even Tazewell would have a good chance... [/ QUOTE ] Ouch. But oh so true.....

    Graham

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Graham has outscored Beaver 150-133 in those 7 games [/ QUOTE ] I just have to jump all over this little nugget. Graham outscored Bluefield, but let us remember that in 2004 Bluefield could have named the score against Graham. They led 41-0 with over 7 minutes to play in the first half. Bluefield got the ball back twice inside the Graham 40-yardline with under 6 minutes left in the half. Coach Simon sent a the second and third teamers with a freshman at quarterback as not to embarrass Graham any further. Then in the second half the starters returned for the first series and immediately drive the field with easy to score again, making it 48-0. The starters never played again on offense and before the 9 minute mark of the 3rd the starting defense was pulled as well. The score could have been 80-0 that night had Coach Simon elected to embarrass Graham, but Bluefield had bigger fish to fry that season. If you go back to 2001 and the thumping Graham laid on Bluefield. You'll remember Graham's starting offense played well into the 3rd quarter despite the big lead and much of their starting defense played well into the 4th quarter. If Bluefield had elected to play their starters that much in 2004 the total score of the past 7 games would have been very different. It wasn't though and if that little nugget makes you feel better than so be it. I just such does signal the massive turnaround in this series, Graham does own Bluefield....LMAO [/ QUOTE ] And we could have named the score against you in 01 also, it could have been much worse than 56-8. My point is this, you blew us out once, we blew you out once, the rest of the games have been close. Who said we owned you? No one, so get the chip off your shoulder. YOU are the one who made the smart alect comment about us being the best team ever. I just don't think you are as great as you think you are.

    Graham

[ QUOTE ] How do you figure Graham will be better than us, as we return from the state championship game with the majority of our team returning. Oh yeah, its graham, they say they will dominate us every year. lol [/ QUOTE ] No it might be the fact that a team that wouldn't have even made the playoffs in Virginia( where everyone makes the playoffs) went to the state championship game. That just tells us all how weak WV high school football really is.

    Graham

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] go look in your Beaver Illustrated to find out that Beaver has NEVER lost more than 3 games to Graham in a single decade. [/ QUOTE ] The stat is Bluefield has never lost 3 straight games to Graham. The numbers can be spun many ways to make Graham look better against Bluefield, but having lost 3 of the 4 and 8 of the last 11 doesn't look too even to me. [/ QUOTE ] The stat is also you have never lost to Graham more than 3 times in any single decade. You have already lost to us 3 times since 2000, with 4 games to go this decade. I really could give a crap about the past in an argument with you because 80 percent of your wins against us came before you were ever born. Real easy for you to jump on that bandwagon. Now is now, and from where I sit, if you are ahead of us, it isn't by much. So go ahead and spin the numbers and make yourself feel better about yourself, but the fact remains we are about even this decade, with a long ways to go before this story is finished.

[ QUOTE ] Wait, is this the year the HUGE swing in this rivalry is going to start? We've been hearing this from Bluefield, Virginia for 15 years now and 15 years later we're still waiting on it to happen. Are those projections for the big swing suppose to occur in my lifetime or my grandchildren's children's lifetime? [/ QUOTE ] There is no dominance on either side at this point. Since 2000 Beaver leads Graham 4-3,and go look in your Beaver Illustrated to find out that Beaver has NEVER lost more than 3 games to Graham in a single decade. And this is a decade that Beaver has 4 state championship game appearances. Graham has outscored Beaver 150-133 in those 7 games. This year should be a classic too. We never said we were going to dominate you, only that things would become even which they pretty much have.
