I think Galax will move the ball just as you suggest. But the QB is very young and very inexperienced. He has some talent and several quick, sure handed receivers around him. Something Galax hasn't had in a couple of years. But the QB is prone to making several youthful, inexperienced mistakes every time he takes the field. No fewer than three of his passes against Glenvar hit a DB right in the chest and were dropped. Two of those would have been walked into the endzone. He still finished with three turnovers. Could Galax have eliminated some mistakes and kept the game closer? Sure, but it could have been far worse had some of those dropped interceptions not been dropped by Glenvar DB's. Keep in mind, he had 5 turnovers in the Benefit game against Floyd.
For Galax, this season is going to be filled with growing pains with a very young QB and several talented but young WR's.
As I stated earlier in the thread, I think Galax keeps it close early but Graham pulls away late to win by 21+.
This the same QB that played some last year? Think he was a freshman last year
I guess Salem and Northside are back to swapping each other for the best football players to go to Salem and the best basketball players to go to Northside. They have done that a lot over the years.
Bluefield will get to see some real power football when the Spartans arrive at Mitchell later in the season…. Kidding, after what I watched tonight I think Giles would’ve been better off playing North Cross again…
Gavin Cormany has transferred and is reclassifying to 2025. Elijah Kelly has transferred to Miller School and is reclassifying to 2025 as well. I have heard nothing official on whether Rick Cormany will retire from coaching but I expect he will so he can go watch Gavin and Cam play. If he does retire, Ben Fisher is likely the next coach and is behind many of the concepts the team uses. Its a big loss of talent but the pipeline is strong. This year will be a struggle losing the top two scorers but the future is bright.
Kickoff time is a confirmed 7pm. The Giles vs BBurg game is not going to be moved to 8pm. This is a surprise to me. I was told by a local birdie that it would be announced/decided today and that it would likely be moved to 8. We'll, they decided and they confirmed/doubled down, the game start time is 7pm and that's locked in.
8pm is to far past the whining girley-like liberal-pukey-panzie Bruins bedtime. Tic.
What are everyone’s thoughts here? Both are drastically different teams since the last time they met. I also believe game time has been pushed back to 8pm for anyone interested in attending.
That is good to hear. I have them finishing either 2nd or 3rd in district. I think they beat Galax for sure. GW and Grayson they have a shot. GW has some athletes but they are definitely not as good as last year. Grayson looks pretty darn good though. Time will tell.
I was impressed with our defense...a lot more athletic than last year and that alone will help with some of the mistakes from last year.
Playing a bunch of sophs...good for the next couple years but will make youngster mistakes this year, but that's ok.

We won't see a team as big as CBurg...but we have to play well to win games especially with our tough schedule....playing bluefield good grief....thank our brilliant AD for that great decision....but we'll show up and see how it goes
When it was Richlands it was clearly recruiting -- but when it's Graham is just the Tony Palmer effect. Can't you see the difference?!?!
It's recruiting at both places...I know for a fact Graham recruited a certain person the last year plus....coaches made calls 2-3 times a week....so don't act like palmer is attracting all these players....some yes bur there is recruiting going on too
All I know is that when Tony got his program right Mance ran off to the beach. He could've stayed and competed but he was fighting a losing battle and he knew it.
