  1. As much as I would have liked to see VA win, this game really isint about winning or losing but about it being an experience and it was positive for the region. Lets hope it continues in the future
  2. I got to watch some of the replay on CH11, Trey Meade is a great athlete but not a QB and the spread sucks(I like to spread it out a little but not the whole game). I assumed it being an all star game and the idea being to put everyone on display the teams would run Pro-I(balanced offense/easy to highlight everyones abilities), with some spread and some Power I / T? Just a thought
  3. I think alot of the players who are good enough to play in something like this also play basketball, so that probably took several out and it is seniors only.
  4. Exactly; punishment is not enough, they need to learn not only tht they cant behave that way but why they shouldnt. It could be a good learning experience. I dont know anything about these kids but if those type of actions dont get taken care of now in a few years they are gonna be adults and it will be a much more serious matter
  5. Im a bigfan of community service in general and that sounds like a good punishment to me. Make it a prerequsite for the underclassmen to play football next year, 40 hours(or however many are deemed suiable) of community service is to be completed by next football season or they cant play. Even though the whole team wasnt involved I find it hard to believe that other team members besides the ones whole stole the items didnt know it was going to happen and they should be heald accountable on some level. Maybe an old school type of punishment is in order, maybe extra gassers at the end of next years practice for the ones involved?
  6. It is a shame, I honestly think it is because there is little/are few reprocussions for this sort of activity. If I caught someone going through my stuff back when I was in high school there would have been a fight! And if I would have stole something my mom would have grounded me for months, not to mention told EVERYONE to shame me! Another problem is too often it isint emphasized on kids that they arent simply playing a sport, they are representing their school, communities, families and their team mates. Wearing those colors isint a privilage it is a burden, a responsibility I think stripping them of their state title is way too far, no need to punish the whole team for the actions of a few. All of that being said a player on a local team a player stole some items from his team mates(he had to quit the team because he was going to get his a$s kicked), there was no proof that he did it but everyone knew he did. That kind of bs is everywhere, whats wrong with kids! I sound like a old man and im only 25!lol
  7. Is anyone from here gonna film the SWVA/NET all star game? Could we maybe get some highlights or even a 10-15 minute cut of the game? that would be great! Ive gotta work and cant make it to the game
  8. That kind of action is inexcuseable! Honestly I think that if im playing in a state title game I have more important things to do than steal someones ipod. I really think they should be banned from competing in any extracurricular activities for the rest of the year and next football season(for the under classmen) thats just rediculious! The coach from Battlefield should have enough good sense to collect all valuables in a bag and have someone be responsable for them maybe the bus driver or carry them w/ the sideline equipment. One has to be smart and keep a lookout for idiots
  9. Im going to use Grundy and Haysi as examples, they both have a hard time filling out there schedules as it is (w/ districts) how in the world would they get 10 w/o districts? Thats my only concern. Hurley and TV also have a hard time, but they are willing to play those weak WV schools and Haysi and Grundy arent so that helps them. I just think scheduling would be really hard for some schools, but I do understand the logic of eliminating the districts.
  10. You not putting DC on that schedule? I would like to see it. DC wont be AA but should be pretty good. I still dont think the Thing 1 and Thing 2 scenario is gonna work out , I think they will close the 3 small schools, send them to the 3 larger schools and draw straws and start building new high schools 1 at a time like they should have dont 10 uears ago. At least thats what I would do Ive never really bought into the strength of schedule arguement, as long as a team is challenged(and I mean really challenged) 2-3 times in a season then that is enough for them to know how to react when they get hit in the mouth! To me playing a really hard schedule week in and week out gets challenging about week 13-14, I think GC suffers from this alot, they play probably the toughest single A schedule this side of Roanake. I just think it would be hard to really put out your absolutely best every week and after a while you dont have anything left. Having a weak schedule is even worse though, if you never know what its like for things not to go right then a team doesent know how to react when things dont go well. Congrats GC, youve made the entire area proud!
  11. sounds like a good idea to me, the only hang up is it makes too much sense and because of that the VHSL will never go for it
  12. That Honaker team was solid and deserves to be mentioned. I think if they would have used Miller in better ways could have been an even greater team, if I remember right they ran alot of power I and little shotgun but that of course is open to debate.
  13. He does have a great combination of speed and power but from what I have seen(and thats not alot) he is a defensive player at the next level. Thats not saying he isint a great high school runningback but he just doesent look natural running the ball. Great player tho and any team in SWVA would be glad to have him(well any team in VA).
  14. I wont argue with you because you probably know more about it than I do, im a little young for greatest of all time conversation just wanted to throw PV in there. I dont think AA vs A makes much of a difference. '10 Richlands may have more D1 talent but I dont think they have 1 player as good as Thomas or Julius, the Johnson kid #44 is good but I dont know if he it TJ or JJ good. Was it '97 that PV beat GC and Appy when they were state champs? This years Richlands team is very good no doubt but lets see if they can bring back any hardware before we all start crowning them as the greatest of all time.
  15. '98 Powell Valley period! They easily beat Appalachia('98 Division 1 champion) and Gate City('98 Division 3 champion) also beat Richlands(dont know what kind of team Richlands had that year). Undefeated season, led by Julius Jones and his 2,000+ yards rushing. I think this is the season where the PV defense only allowed a handfull(maybe 0) of plays over 10 yards. Ive seen film on them and I havent seen a team that good from this area.
  16. EM had to be a good team to beat Clintwood. Im really impressed that anyone was able to pass the ball in the wet snow. Good season for the Greenwave
  17. announcers hinted that the field conditions held CW back. B.S. EM wins Good season Greenwave Congrats to Richlands(you guys silenced alot of doubters) and Gate City
  18. CW pass incomplete turn over on downs, nor sure of the time but its not much
  19. TD CW xp is good CW 21 EM 20 issues w/ the scoreboard not just the clock
  20. the refs keep changing the time above or under 7:00, whatever
  21. LETS GO BLUE DEVILS!!! EM 20 CW 14, CW driving
