  1. trey meade pass, incomplete but penalty 1st and 10 cw. CW bobbled snap no gain 2nd and 10
  2. clintwood converts 4th and 2. in good position TO EM
  3. "techinical difficulties" is what they said.
  4. sounds like Clintwood is getting all they can handle! At this level there are no bad teams left. Im really suprised that EM is able to keep the ball in the air with success. Helper when you say endaround, is it an endaround or jetsweep? Just curious GO GET 'EM BLUES!!! Keep it up GC!
  5. Im not saying anything everyone doesent already know but the weather REALLY favors Clintwood, it may be a LONG trip back to Elliston. Look for Austin Dotson to get Alot of carries today, kid is build like a bulldozer and im sure he will have no problem in the snow! Whats the over/under that Clintwood throws the ball 5 times? I say under
  6. its getting white here at work (Norton), the side roads are already white
  7. it sucks for the kid but if you fudge one day then then next time its one month and so on, where does it end. If they knew this was gonna be a problem then he should have started playing varsity sports in 8th grade so he could get his 4 years in
  8. true but just in case I thought I would give them some details. Spending the night in Abingdon may not be a bad idea though. But I really dont think it is gonna get that bad. IF the snow is laying on the roads just to be safe it may be best to go through Pound and Wise and not go over the mountain, as I said before its alot longer but the roads are better and should be clearer. 83 west to Pound then 23 North to Norton/Wise then 58 East to Hansonville then continue on 58/19 to Abingdon then 81 north to home Safe travels to everyone; EM, Richlands and Gate City. Not to mention the home fans. Be careful out there!
  9. In light of tomorrows expected weather I thought I would just put it out there where the local Hotels are for anyone from EM headed to Clintwood, in case you guys decide to lay over for the night. The Southern Heritage Inn is located right in the middle of town, nice rooms and affordable but it isint very big. Thats it for Clintwood, the next closest thing is the Southern Heritage Inn in Pound, its about 1 1/2 miles past Pound on 23 headed toward Wise, details are same as above its just not close to anything except 23. After that just follow 23 to Norton and there are alot of options (Super 8. Holiday Inn, etc). There is another choice in Pound but given the option I would drive on to Norton, but if the weather is bad and you cant make it to Norton(the streach of road about 3 miles past Pound to Norton gets bad fast in winter) there is a Motel just outside of Pound on the left, I forget the name but its a trashy kinda place but better than your car. Lets hope it doesent get that bad
  10. WAXM for sure and WDIC should be there also
  11. JV players play JV and not a real part of the Varsity even if they are allowed to dress. Was 1 JV player not invited or were they all not invited?
  12. maybe thats a little too far but I was reffering to field conditions. Im sure clintwoods field is in great shape but even if it wasnt they can play there if they want to, as long as it isint dangerous and there is plenty of seating
  13. I like alternating between Regions from year to year in the semis, I wouldnt like powerpoints or record determining the host site. If Clintwood wants to play in a mudhole(as long as it has enough seating) thats their choice. Unless im mistaken Clintwood does not practice on their field very much and since it hasnt hosted a game since the 1st round of the playoffs it should be in good condition, its a great field(one of the best natural fields around)
  14. Through Vansant is probably more direct, the roads(83) suck from Vansant to Clintwood(espicially from Vansant to haysi), not to mention its probably an hour and a half bus ride (everyone would be car sick) on second thought, EM thats the best way to go lol!
  15. GC is hard to key on, 2 RBs that are their primary backs with a FB and another WB/RB that they add in to mix things up. Altogether a very versitile but power based running game. They didnt pass the ball much against Honaker, didnt need to but when they did their QB was spot on accurate. They have a very well laid out offense
  16. I live over by the dam, wonderful place to live. Ive been to Knoxville, Tampa, Richmond(thats about it, I know its sad) and of course the tri-cities!(lol), but there really is no place like home
  17. Trammel > Abingdon lol.....Southbound Falconman, you guys out there EM fans please dont stop in Trammel. There is a LJSilvers, Hardees, Pizza Hut, McDs, Pizza Plus(good salads/hoagies pizza is average, 1/4 of a mile on your left from end of rt 72, thats where I would go, good service and clean bathrooms). There is also a Rite Aid near the field and a small Grocery store I love DC and wouldnt change much about it!
  18. its all kind of a tease, espicially the bearwallows and the jabs at Abingdon and Trammel. In all seriousness that is the quicker way but all you need to know is St. Paul, Fremont and Clintwood. The other stuff is like saying follow 81 past/through Salem, C'burg, Radford, Dublin, Pulaski, etc Going through Norton is the longest way around but has the best roads, follow 58 to Norton go through the first redlight and take the ramp right to US 23 follow it to the first Pound exit, take it and go into Pound, in the middle of town is a 3 way intersection turn right (accross bridge and past fire dept) and follow to Clintwood(about 10-15 minutes). I would go to Saint Paul and accross route 63, the roads arent great but its alot faster. Legend is right please check your breaks it really could get bad! I mean its Dickenson County there is no quick way. Probably the only county in VA without a single inch of 4 lane The football field is on your right just past Long John Silvers, park where you can(good luck)
  19. Some quick directions for the EM faithful, Drive about 2 hours down 81, get off at Abingdon(its not much so dont take the time to look around) head towards Hansonville on 19 at the redlight in Hansonville(its the only one) turn left(its the only way to turn) onto US 58 ALT. Hang a right at St. Paul and over the mountain toward Dante(its pronounced Daint), then on a ways through Lower Bearwallow, Upper Bearwollow, go past Dante, Trammel(stop here, lots of history and society to take in). On through Nora, past McClure to Fremont, take a left at over the bridge and over the mountain, go past 83 Gas and Grocery up another mountain and you are there! or maybe they will come through Norton or to Coeburn and accross 72? anyway dont get lost. lol It should be a great game, too bad I wont be able to watch it
  20. I got to Wise around 11:15, parked on campus. Stepped out of my truck and right onto a bus which took us to the front gate(parking/walking wasnt a problem). Watched GC absolutely roll Honaker but I have to give credit to Honaker they played hard, GC scored alot of points but they earned every one of them(except Vaughns punt return, that wasnt too hard). the real difference was in the backfield, GC has 2 backs that are playmakers and Honaker had good backs but no where near as god as Vaughn and Clark. 70 for Honaker was a good ballplayer but had heavy feet. Gate City didnt have any real standouts except maybe Vaughn but were solid at every position(as always) Sat around and waited and waited and waited for the 2nd game to start, when it finally did it was a good one and well worth the wait. Clintwood wasnt sharp and allowed Burton to hang around when they really shouldnt have, but props to JIB for playing hard and never giving up. Trey Meade (QB for Clintwood) hurt his shoulder, I dont know how bad but he never came out of the game. Clintwood has alot of potiental but doesent seem to know how to put the hammer down when they need to. I heard some Clintwood fans talking about how the Greenwave were good enough to take out GC and give Richlands all they could handle. I sort of laughed to myself, they are way off on both counts. I also saw some of the worst fans ever on Clintwoods side. Some guys behind us were yelling " hurt 'em boys" and " break his neck". I honestly cant understand anyone wanting to see any player get injured. I will say that is not a reflection of Clintwoods fans in general just a few idiots. the Clintwood fans were by far the most spirited of all today. It was also great to hear the bands today, all 3 did well but I have to give props to Honakers their drum line was very good. And finally the best part of all, the GC horns werent overly used today, and even though I sat pretty close to them werent annoying at all, actually were a nice accent to the game. All in all a great day of football! Good luck to Richlands, Gate City and Clintwood go and represent the region well!
  21. Amen! I never played on turf but from dust to mud, rocks and grass, thats football
  22. The main problem with the horn is overuse, if it was just used for the entrance and big/important plays it could really get in a teams head I HATE noise makers, the only thing that is worse is quite fans! I really dont think Honaker can beat GC BUT if GC comes in thinking "oh this is just a BDD school we will roll 'em" they are libel to get smacked in the mouth! Honaker wont lay down and they are every bit as phisical as GC. Maybe not as big in the backfield or as fast but just as tough. I cant wait to watch both JIB/Clintwood and GC/Honaker
  23. Youre kinda right about Coeburn. They have around 400 students and GC has about 600 so there is some difference but they still should roll everyone in the Cumberland. The horn does piss opposing fans off, its loud and serves no real point other than to be annoying! But I dont like small air horns, cowbells or any other kind of noise maker either. God gave fans a set of hands and lungs, use 'em
  24. I liked the hit at 2:10! Pay attention when youre on the field. Watch at 3:53, the MLB comes up to fill the gap and gets nothing but air! 4:02, another great block n the Jet Sweep, says alot for his explosiveness 5:48 just plain nasty A step above #4 from Cave Spring IMO
  25. Dont put too much into the points they put up against Giles, Haysi put up 40+ throwing the ball and this was one of the worst Haysi teams in rescent history. EMs QBs stats are impressive and I have no doubt they are a good team. I just have little respect for the depth of Region C D1, and to me beating up on a bunch of weak teams isint anything to brag about. Lets not forget it may still be JI Burton vs Galax for half state, I dont think it will be but it could be
