  1. Pound runs a similar offense to Hurley but are more ground based. They have some solid playmakers but I think Hurley can pull it out
  2. It really did, just goes to show what this team can do when they are focused! Haysi took their first posession in for a touchdown with ease and it just got worse from there! This is the offense I thought Haysi would have this year, multiple formations, run heavy play calling with 5-6 different backs carrying the ball, a solid passing game and Derrick Blair at the center of it all, doing a little bit of everything. Castlewoods offense didnt make alot of sense. They ran split backs(backs were close together) all they ran was dive either to the HB or the FB, every now and then they would run keeper off of the dive. They werent running option(they were faking it) but the Qb wasnt reading the defense just handing off. There RB was a TOUGH runner, as strong a runner as any ive seen this season or in the past few, not fast or agile but hard nosed and never quit churning his legs. I cant understand why they didnt run an offense with a blocker in front of him(I, Power I, Wildcat, something)? They were a scrappy bunch (always are) and never gave up. Haysis second team Offense played most of the 2nd half, the defense was a 1st/2nd mix. Castlewoods score did come against the 1st D, but it was in the 2nd half when the game was well in hand.
  3. For me its EM/Radford, maybe Reg C can put up a fight against the Reg D this year, they did last year for the first time in several years. I thought Haysi would beat Castlewood but I didnt think it would be that bad
  4. What happened to Kelly? Is the backup a better runner or a passer? I remembr before the season started that there were two guys who could both start for Grundy
  5. I meant before that loss, its been a while
  6. isint the coach that coached that Gretna team at VA High now?
  7. it would work alot better with a 5-6 A setup with solid group numbers 4 8s solves the travel issue while preserving the new system How does WV do their playoffs? Similar set up as the one proposed in VA isint it? Is their system state wide or sections?
  8. But Haysi already plays them, them joining wont change their schedule as far as haysi is concerned. They may push the date back a little but thats it
  9. The only change i would make is doing what NC is proposing and instead of 2 16s have 4 8s. Decide the 4 8s after playoff teams have been decided and do it to set up the best travel situations. Seating in each 8 team "region" would be determined by power points. There would be alot of decisions made in a short ammount of time(last game ends on friday and teams will start practice monday) a solution to this issue would be to start the season a week early and have a by week Just my thoughts
  10. We shouldnt EVER, as long as I have been around Haysi football it hasnt happened. Castlewood is not a great team but they are solid as is Thomas Walker. But we still shouldnt lose to them
  11. Congrats to him he is a fine player, the whole town should be proud of the strength he has shown and of their response to the families needs. Thankfully no one was hurt
  12. When they came across the O Coach Colley drawin’em in the dirt. My favorite parts; The O Coach said: "My name's Jamie and it might be a sin, "But I'll take your bet, your gonna regret, 'cos I'm the best that's ever been." When the devil finished, O Coach said: "Well you're pretty good ol' son. "But sit down on that bench, right there, and let me show you how its done." The devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat. He laid that golden football on the ground at Jamie’s feet. Jamie said: "Devil just come on back if you ever want to try again. "I told you once, you son of a gun, I'm the best that's ever been." One of the greatest things I have ever read, and right on point. Haysi will win this game, I firmly believe that if Dakots Stanley hadnt of gotten hurt our only loss would be against Clintwood(I know Lance disagrees), take the best player of of any team in the region and see how they do (Richlands and Gate City would be fine). I think Dakota will still be out tonight but I think Haysi will have enough to get a little redemption after last friday. When was the last time Haysi lost to a Cumberland team?
  13. The chili at Haysi is good, Honakers food is really good. The playoffs will be different(too much to talk about all over again), its a much better setup
  14. from the pic I saw on the other thread the points are more rounded(looks like crap), this one looks much better
  15. Depends on how you look at it, Appy wore those uniforms(plain helmets, tear away jerseys and pants w/ no logos or stripes) as an outward expression of their style and approach to football, plain and tough. It worked for them, but lot of things that worked for Tom Turner dont work for everyone. If new "flashy"" uniforms help to get the kids/school/community excited about their team then im all for it. I like the approach that what we wear and where we play reflect our teams approach to football. When I played we didnt have flags up at the field, outside of lines and numbers nothing was painted on the field, the fieldhouse was just plain white walls, the only decoration was a poster of a man/tiger standing over a defeated football player(who was colored green) and a sign that said "play like champions". Oh and the numerous BDD title plaques. We didnt expect fancy things, we didnt even expect our fans to cheer, we were just there to play football, period. Win the BDD and beat Clintwood, that was it.
  16. "haysi would be a good competitive game ,but like ye say as far as the points situation its not good for taz.i guess tazewell is in the rebuilding process." I think it would be a competitive game, the Tazewell Honaker series has been competitive. Its just not a good fit, unless both teams are desperate for a 10th game
  17. I just noticed that he was palying alot tonight and the announcers were talking about him. His story just strikes me as similar to the one that may be infront of Caleb Jennings. I posted in the other thread that Jennings would make a good special teams player(not a shot at him) but here is a guy that is similar(at least in stature, build and background) and is getting in on offense. Holiday is very small, how in the world anyone can tackle a guy that small and quick is beyond me!
  18. A week or two ago someone mentioned that some NFL teams may be looking at Caleb Jennings. Im wathing the Pats/ Fins game and New Englands starting RB is Danny Woodhead. Never heard of him? Neither had I, the guy is listed at 5'9" 200lbs (I would say hes more like 5' 7" 180lbs) form Division II Chadron State. He has a page on Wikipedia if you want to look it up. No one was interested in him comming out of high school so he went to a local college and absolutely tore it up(numerious records as well as being 2 time winner of D2s Heisman). It just reminded me alot of Jennings, maybe the kid can make it(if he wants to go down that path) Just thought some of you Richlands guys might be interested (I was). Just shows the kids at home what hard work and determination can do for you.
  19. I like the three stripes and the T w/ the Bulldog does look good! What did those uniforms look like?
  20. One of the VA High fans talked about how honaker was down and the bearcats were gonna roll and that was his way of thinking(and im sure he wasnt the only one), I know fridaynightfun didnt take it that far but dont underestimate the Tigers. They are hardnosed, dedicated to the run and are a tough team to beat. I think Tazewell can beat Honaker but they will have to bring their A game
  21. Giles should have an opening assuming they dont sign again with Haysi, in that case Haysi would have an opening also. I wouldnt mind seeing Haysi play Tazewell, its kinda lose/lose situation for Taz though.
  22. Improve is good, change well its not always good. The bulldogs should go with just the numbers on the side and a single white stripe from front to back, classic!
  23. Tigers by 2 TDs, Honaker is not what they once were but are still a solid group. I think they have enough to beat a down Tazewell team. By the way that type of thinking is what got VA High beat!
