  1. Football is a cycle. Every great dynasty hits hard times. Talent leaves. Families leave. Kids stop playing. One day it will turn around. But that day is not today nor likely any day soon. Still can’t wait to show up and cheer on the boys who are out there every week.
  2. Kids at GC love it. Sometimes all it takes it something different to get the kids fired up for the season.
  3. Interesting to see what they manage to do to find a solution. https://heraldcourier.com/sports/prep-football-gene-malcolm-stadium-uncertainty-for-virginia-high-bearcats-as-season-looms/article_6857ebf2-1f48-11ee-9a2e-9f9451caeb03.html?utm_campaign=blox&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&fbclid=IwAR3WAn09Zqy2WaLDCv1FQqNtVnAAIE41YFYBEA-PgWFprnkWjs1eV2dONV0
  4. I’ve been twice and left really longing for more both times. Just wasn’t anything spectacular…
  5. Yeah that part was really only an isolated Richlands thing that was happening at the same time everyone else was busy throwing rocks at the football team lol.
  6. He’s the one who chose not to pay the big boss man 😂
  7. The whole thing when Unions band was accidentally sent onto the field while Richlands was still warming up and the football players ran through the band to catch a punt and there was a lot of outrage. The owner of the Moose basically said anyone who didn’t side with Union wasn’t welcome in his restaurant and said some pretty nasty things about Richlands athletics and their fans. And then admitted he hadn’t seen the video, only been told what happened. It caused a LOT of people to stop going there, myself included. Which sucked, because I ate there so much before, that the waitress's knew my order when I walked in lol.
  8. Is this the greatest baseball thread feud ever on this board? 😂😂
  9. Oh wow... I joined this site as a spry high school sophomore in 2005. It's seen me graduate from Richlands, battle clinical depression, lose a relationship after a miscarriage, pick up the pieces and figure a way back out of the darkness, enroll and graduate from SWCC, transfer and graduate from VT, re-meet my wife (the same woman who I drifted from when she miscarried all those years ago), have a son, buy a house, cars, and learn that life is more than our flaws and our mistakes. The end of this site feels like the death of a close family member. This place has been the one constant in my life. It's led to what will be lifelong friendships and some fun "rivalries." Thanks for giving us this place to talk and spend our downtime, GMan. I appreciate it more than I could ever put into words!
  10. I don't think it's too much. There are plenty of teams in Classes 1 & 2, so combining them would mean you'd have some teams that lost 1 or 2 games all season missing the playoffs.
  11. Richlands girls beat Battle 2-0 last night. Will face the winner of Tazewell/Central on Tuesday in Norton.
  12. Rumor mill says somewhere in the Tri-Cities region. But until it's real, I still treat it like a rumor and take it with a grain of salt.
  13. Anyone know who the 3/4 seeds are for the SWD? They're listed as TBD on the brackets the VHSL has.
  14. Richlands beat Tazewell today to win the SWD tournament.
  15. Wow... that's an even worse reason to start fighting at a high school game...
  16. I'm betting a few people face charges. Just really a sad and avoidable situation if adults would actually act like adults.
  17. Just what I was told by a buddy.
  18. Anyone know what started the fight?? Game was called in the 5th. VHS won 11-2. Saw on Twitter at least one Graham player and multiple Graham fans were ejected.
  19. So what would you have done? You had a major cross-town rivalry and then the big M7 game just days apart. Literally, every coach would start your two aces in those two games that mattered... and that was the plan. And then when an illness happens, you just have to roll with what you have. And in a week where you play 3 games in 5 days, he was out of varsity arms. How would you have played it?
  20. That's all he had. Gobble pitched against VHS and their other pitcher pitched against Gate City that same week.
  21. Hankins got sick Saturday morning and couldn't pitch, so Battle used a JV pitcher.
