I'm glad Region C expanded to the 6 team playoff format this year because they seem to always have the worst problem with good teams getting left out of the playoffs. Since there are 4 districts in Region C, if all 4 district champs are division 2, then there would be no wildcard spots available in the old system. That means that it was very common for 5-5 district champions to get in the playoffs with 9-1 teams sitting at the house. Having 6 teams now does help that, it is absolutely ridiculous to have some of the stuff that has happened in Region C over the last several years. Just in the last few years George Wythe and Glenvar have had 9-1 seasons and not made the playoffs, while mediocre .500 teams get in over them, and several very good 8-2 teams have been left out as well. The year GW went 9-1, they beat Grayson Co. 56-0 in a regular season game. GW's only loss was a close one at Lebanon. Grayson went 5-5 and won the terrible MED, Grayson got in the playoffs and got blown out in the first round while GW sat at home.....nothing right about that. That is only one example of many instances that have happened. I know this happens in other regions as well, it is frustrating for those teams, but it will continue to happen until playoff expansion happens or districts are realigned.

Do you run the tour G-Man? and also I love Dewayne and his great first tee introductions, he is a great guy and he also introduced on the first tee my senior year Region C tourney at Draper, it was pretty cool.

G-Man, I played on the BRJGT when I was in high school and I really enjoyed. Got to play at some pretty nice places for nominal fees, especially the Greenbrier, that is really a treat. All the staff and other participants were always really nice and made sure everyone had a great time. I would recommend any junior golfer in the area to play on the BRJGT, or any jr tour for that matter, it is a good experience and the competition will really help and it is fun even if you are not a real low handicap golfer. Various age and skill levels participate. The young kids seem to have a blast with it too.

GW was up 20-7 in the 3rd qtr, that is when things turned around. Giles scores on a drive in which they converted a 4th down to cut the lead to 20-14. GW then fumbles the ensuing kickoff and Giles picks it up and runs it in for a TD to go up 21-20. Giles controlled the rest of the game and scored again with about 2 min to go to make it 28-20. I know Drew Lester got hurt, anybody have an update on him?

No doubt, Marion fumbled a lot and Chilhowie's offense was atrocious. Lot of young players out there, could be a long season for both. The Johnson kid from Marion was the lone bright spot I saw for either team. I hope both teams improve though and have respectable seasons.

Each game varsity played 2 qtrs, JV played the last qtr. I left after VHS/PV game so someone else will have to fill us in on the last two games. Chilhowie played very conservatively and substituted often, starters were lucky to play one qtr in each game. They are big but seem to lack speed and inexperience seemed to show. The Warriors will need to get it together or it might be a long season, maybe it helped them though. VA High looked very good in my opinion. Thurman has already made a difference from what I saw tonight. The players were fired up and the spread offense was working well, passing and running well on CHS and PV. Bowers looked good throwing and running the ball and they seem to have some good athletes to pick from. Might make some noise this year. I was impressed with Gate City's QB #15. Very speedy and accurate thrower. Chil couldn't seem to contain GC's speed. They ran the ball a lot but made good passes when needed. PV and VHS couldn't stop each other. 56 total pts in 2 qtrs. Pinkston ran wild and picked apart VHS' secondary, that seemed to be VHS' biggest weakness, they got burned quite often. Pinkston is a stud and looked to have good backs and receivers. Offense looked really good but defense couldn't stop VHS. Both offenses looked really good though. Pinkston made an incredible run of about 25-30 yds for a TD on the last play of the qtr to tie VHS after a wild sequence of events. That one game was worth price of admission.
