brady's been gone from phs for years now. it would be interesting to see him wrestle, though. haha.

when did pocy get speed? did someone transfer in since the beginning of the season? they couldn't catch anyone who got outside during the iaeger game. the fastest two on the team (imo) are the pauley brothers: the rb pauley is too busy dancing around most of the time to run anywhere resembling forward, and the qb doesn't seem strong enough to break even an arm tackle.

carroll over abingdon in 4 games. abingdon had previously lost to marion (who carroll defeated earlier) which i didn't realize until today. so, carroll is in sole possession of 1st in the swd, having defeated all other swd teams.

everything depends on the abingdon matches. abingdon lost 3 good ones in jackson, basham, and pionk from last year, but they still have their other middle hitter and some fairly solid players returning. also, they've gotten a new coach since last year. i've not seen them this season, so i don't know exactly how that's affected them. carroll's beaten everyone in the swd but tazewell and abingdon, who they've yet to face. they've got abingdon thursday at carroll. that will tell a lot.

they might actually be more competitive in the med in both of those girls sports. as it is now, they're far from it in the swd.

i heard they didn't go to camp, but i may be wrong about that.

grayson should be aa, and in the swd, replacing grundy.

pocy won something like 51-15.

if matched up in the regular season, richlands would kill pocahontas, if that's what you're getting around to.

so in a round-about way, you're suggesting that in order to be competitive, consolidation of tazewell county schools is the best option?

yeah, tech played lowly ohio...who won c-usa last season. and ecu...who went bowling last winter. bill and mary, though, i've not got a comeback for that one. acc play starts soon. that's what i'm waiting for.

how did the abingdon match go last week?

the second play from scrimmage was a 60ish yd td pass

cburg got lax and played some reserves and graham scored. then, cburg marched their next drive right back down for a td. graham's last td was only to make the score prettier--cburg dominated this game. they were just so much faster than the g-men.

they did lose most, although they will still have landreth, gallinger, and a couple of others. had wyatt stayed, she would have had to take quite a few beatings this season, imo.

[/ QUOTE ] let's be realistic, guys. there's no way this year's defense will even come close to being the best to ever come through phs. let's take, for example, the '90 "hammer time" defense, or perhaps the '98 med co-champs defense. better than last year, maybe. but, let's not overstate matters. and, for the record, i love you guys, but you're not finishing anywhere but the absolute bottom of the med. your line's just not big enough or strong enough, and with enrollment being miniscule, you just don't have enough athletes to contend. oh, and you only have 4 home games. glad your spirits are high, though.
