  1. It's not like Tazewell and Richlands haven't had youth wrestling in the past, it's just beginning grow again in those areas. Graham had ha Floyd of success in the past few years at the high school level. You guys should be very proud of that!
  2. Quake and Joey do a great job. Tazewell has a lot of area youth that works out with them. Free of charge as well. There are kids from Tazewell, graham, bluefield, Richlands, and Lebanon that work together.
  3. Yes, but there are some opportunities in Tazewell county that aren't bad choices either. If you would like some better info, I can point you in the right direction by PM.
  4. What do you mean by "take advantage" exactly?
  5. No problem. Grundy wrestling has helped many other local teams as well. Lending wrestling mats, offering a free wrestling camp every summer, attending youth tournaments to help local schools fundraisers are just a few examples of their generosity. Love em or hate em, they have helped a lot of people through the years.
  6. http://miningpeople.org/old_coalpeople/august08/red_robertson.htm This will shed a little light...
  7. Late 80s through to late 90s. They brought in another Iowa alum Travis Fiser when he left. Having resources to pull those two off is awesome. But they were pretty good before Dresser too. Dresser without a doubt rose then to National prominence.
  8. Hard work, dedication(by athletes, coaches, and community), and money that allows them to do what other programs can't in our area like coaches from prestigious backgrounds, travel, wrestling the best competition, and very good facilities. All of that said, it comes back to kids wanting to strive to be like the state champs that paved the way before them.
  9. Yes and he sat out for 365 days because he didn't move.
  10. There is one. Beside the stairs to right side.
  11. Off season conditioning started the week after Thanksgiving last year. The weight room is open already now, with coaches in there supervising.
  12. I've often wondered why there isn't much talk of dual qb situations, fumbles, botched special teams play, ejections, and other costly mistakes by all the transfers since 2009 that have cost Richlands dearly in key situations. Not to mention the injuries that have occurred to some of the players that have made the switch.
  13. Applications til December 19th. It's on TCPS website.
  14. As terrible as it sounds, those were the most fun times ever! LOL Kids today have no idea what we went through just to get to play on Friday nights. Heck, sometimes just to dress out! Times have definitely changed.
  15. He also ran a 21.71 200m to win that title too. Kid has some wheels

  17. Johnson Central won big. 48-0
  18. 1a and 2a had nothing to do with it. Not sure when PH dropped, but the rest were 2a after the split I believe.
  19. It would be very tough for Tazewell to make a run with those kids as freshmen, I don't care who the coach is. The core is there, lineman will need to be developed and parents need to be put in there place. Talent pool is changing as is work ethic. Still taking applications, no interviews yet.
  20. Interesting...attending one school and working out at another.
  21. Look, all i was saying is it's hard to have a lot of success with so much change. I see your point with the other schools in the county, but this is football and there needs to be stability and trust from top to bottom. Richlands hasn't had those changes. Graham has, but they have hired a coach that most of the community wanted in the first place. Plus, in Graham's case, all that talent on the field at once sure isn't hurting them at all HAHA
  22. It wasn't an argument, it was a fact. He made reference to the leadership and I mentioned the superintendents. I know Tazewell's problems. I just wanted to throw the changes at the top out there because they do have an affect on a football program. Graham was struggling until this year and the athletes they have is a huge help in that regard. Richlands has had the same Football coach for how long now? Tazewell had 8 consecutive years with some kind of change at either head coach or principal. It is very difficult to hold discipline standards with that kind of change. Academically, Tazewell is on par with the 2 other county schools in the last 2 years. I can guarantee you Coach Allen did not want to leave Tazewell Football. Read the articles, he plainly states that the administration wanted to go in a different direction.
  23. Congrats to Will! He is a very respectful young man, and a fierce competitor.
  24. I forgot to mention that there have been 4 Superintendents in the same time period.
  25. 4 head coaches in 4 years, followed by 4 principals, and 3 assistant principals in 4 years. That is a huge problem to have when trying to build a foundation.
