  1. I saw Grundy and Hurley play each other in 8th and 9th grade football game tonight for a quarter are 2. When I left Hurley had 3 tds and Grundy had 1. Hurley had a some good lineman for 8th&9th grade team, and they played good defense, rushing to the ball and wraping up and a few hard hits. Grundy didn't have much of a line but had a few good backs. They had a kid that was in every play named Trey Oliver (I think thats his last name) hes black kid that just moved here awhile back living with his uncle I heard. He looked pretty fast and could make some moves, hes in 8th grade. If he can get some blocking he will be intresting to watch in the next few years...they had a few other backs hittin the hole gettin 5 yds are so a down.
  2. Im not being bias, if Hurley ends up keeping it within at least 2 tds at the end of the game then you can look up what I said and quote me say I was wrong, don't think it will happen though. Everybody called East Ridge to take us to down to the wire, alot people said they would win and Grundy end up winning 34-7 without one of there top 2 wrs. Also to say Hurley as many weapons on offense as Grundy is outragous imo, you have Waynick...who else is big playmakers? Cody Justus (if healthy) Ben Rife, Tyler Berg, Dillon Oakwind, Nick Travis can all make a big play at any time for Grundy. Not trying to run down Hurley or talk any trash I just don't think they have the firepower to keep up with Grundy, could be wrong.
  3. I don't see this one being as close as most people are calling it, Grundy has too many weapons on offense and alot depth on both sides of the ball. 41-14 Wave
  4. I was thinking the same thing, I hope Tommy and the Twin Valley can get a win.
  5. I was thinking about the same thing, Grundy winning by about 12 or 15 or so. I think they will give ER will give Grundy a good game but the Wave takes care of business in the 4th quarter, Cody Justus is still out I think but I still see us winning. I'll say 34-20 Golden Wave
  6. Good picks Lance, on one you put up "Mr. 3 TDs Berg" are you sure that is not a pic of Nick Travis? One of them is 21 and one of them is 24 and there about the same size, the only reason I ask is because I thought Nick wore the black stuff on his wrist last night...could be dead wrong not totally sure. Can't really give a opinion on last night since TV is prob the worst team in the state, or at least one of them. Im intrested in next weeks game aganist East Ridge. I know there Ky team who is big basketball school but they are getting a little better every year and I heard they have improved from last year team, who beat a pretty decent Hurley team and didn't play us too bad. Does anybody info on how they looked aganist Haysi? I heard they looked alot better than Haysi but I wasan't there. I know Grundy has always been know as a run it down your throat team, I don't see that working so good in SWD play. The line don't have the size as Richlands and Graham does, and there running game went down big time last year when they started district play. I really do like the passing game though, John Kelly already has 3 years down as a startin QB and is in his senior year and he has alot weapons. Ben Rife has some good size on him a very good hands, Cody Justus has a hurt wrist but hes a tough WR with good hands and very hard tackle, he can take a hit as well. Dillon Oakwind is tall and is prob the fastest kid on the team, great deep threat. If the line can give John some time I think they can find alot of success throwing the ball. My prediction is at the end of the regular season Grundys record will be 7-3
  7. Not trying to be "Debbie downer" but no way they start out 9-0, it would love to be wrong on that but just don't see it. I always hear about the new big lineman thats coming in during summer but it never happens. I have heard that for the past 2 or 3 summers, once again not be the downer just saying. I can see 3 district wins for Grundy, and I can't wait till the Hurley game...should be fun.
  8. I think some people are just a little to high on Grundy so far....I have seen some people post on here 2nd place and I just don't see that happening. Although there bringing back everybody from last year they still have alot of questions and holes. They still need some O-Line help, Tanner Marshall is one of the better lineman in the district...but after that they get a little thin. Plus there run game in SWD play was hardly nothing...they put up some great stats aganist East Ridge, Twin Valley and Matewan but not aganist the real teams. I know there bringing back everybody from last year but that team only won one district game in the SWD. There is also talk that there moving J. Kelly from QB to TE, I don't know why since he has started at QB for the past 3 years but I have heard that. I would say Grundy will finish either 4th or 5th in the district with 2 or 3 wins in district play.
  9. I never said they wasan't tough, I mean they had a real good year and was a strong ballclub...but to compare them to some of the top teams in the state is going to far.
  10. I still say that is just a little too much credit. They went undefeated playing in the Bdd, everybody in that district sucked this year except for them (no offense but its the truth.) They got lucky to beat Abingdon the one time and the last game of the regular season they barley beat Haysi 1-0. They was a really good ballclub...but there not as good as Poquoson, Potomac Falls, Jefferson Forest, Tunstall. Even in Single A I thought Va High, Rappahannock, Gate City was a better ball club all year. Don't even compare them to some of the VA Beach school's that had players getting drafted to the MLB's right out of high school..
  11. Honaker best time in the state? Not even close, they was a good team but saying there the best in the state is a little too much.
  12. See I just don't understand why the called him out, this may spark a argument but so be it. He hit the ball over the fence so there for the play should be dead, there no way of getting him out so where is it such a big deal to hit home plate? Now if there was a runner on 3rd and somebody hit a single and he didn't to touch homeplate then it would make since because the play was never dead but on a homerun...come on. Sounds like alot "nick-picking" as my dad would say.
  13. Kelly will be pitching today...just not the same Kelly that pitched aganist Richlands lol. John will pitch today and Chris will pitch in the championship round.
  14. Haha I know man I was just messin with ya, does anyone know when the final rounds is?
  15. Too bad Abingdon is not playing Richlands...
  16. It was canceled, making it up on Friday
  17. They will finish 20-0 unless the upset of the decade happens...how you think they will do in Regions and State?
  18. He said he was going compare the score to there football game but the score would be more like 65-0? Oh yeah "thats all" BigD you would take up for Richlands in any situation not matter what, not trying to call you out but sometimes its a little ridiculous.
  19. It don't sound like sour grapes to me, Abingdon beat Richlands in baseball and somebody had to put on here don't worry they will kill em in football....thats great. This was a thread about the Richlands/Abingdon BASEBALL GAME, not a thread about how Richlands will kill Abingdon and everybody else in football. I think its funny that everytime Richlands loses a game in basketball or baseball someone puts the score on here then somebody will come along and say something on the lines of "wait till football season" If all you want to talk/care about is football then thats fine, leave other things alone.
  20. Grundy 5-4 Final, Grundy won on a walkoff hit by Cody Rife.
  21. Chris Kelly pitched the whole game for Grundy. For Marion that guy thats pretty tan and plays SS when hes not pitchin started, Ronnie (#4 I think) came in relief and then a side-arm lefty came in for Marion after that.
  22. Grundy 15-0 Final (5 inning mercy rule)
