Richlands will win the Southwest District again. I know some are blaming the loss on the Johnson kids but without them Richlands probably would not have scored. I could tell the Johnsons have not been hit in the mouth (Smash Mouth Football Style) all that much and will need to get used to it fast. Also with the size kids Richlands has they in my opinion would do so much better lining up in the I or T and pounding that ball as well. They could go into Multiple sets and still line up in the spread from time to time but I really beleave Richlands should go back to Smashmouth football. The Spread offense is not for Southwest Virginia teams and I will preach it untill the day I die. Southwest Virginia teams just dont have the athletes year after year to properly run the Spread.

I really dont think the Johnsons have ever been hit like they were tonight. Probably why one of them tried to throw some punches early in the game.

And Richlands score was due to a turnover also.

He was a good coach and a great person. To me Housewright was always the better coach of the two. Rye Cove has one Region D title ever. Housewright was the head coach that year. Nick could have had a few more state titles than he did but when it came down to crunch time he would get very conservative. I dont blame you guys for thinking that and Lord knows I would think it too if it were Richlands losing a Hall of Fame coach. But thats just it. You guys would know more about Richlands than me just like many at Gate City know about Gate City more than fans of other schools would. It is how I feel and I may even be proved wrong.

Dont know the names but here are a couple of Gate Citys Rivals. Powell Valley is probably the biggest today but there is a school coming up fast to knock Powell Valley out of that top spot. That team is the Lebanon Pioneers. I did hear something at the Jamboree in Bristol I thought I would never hear though. Gate City fans were cheering for Powell Valley! It was when PV played Virginia High. Guess they hate Chris Thurman more.LOL!

All they had to do was win a WEAK BDD and that means prepare for Haysi only. That is one reason District winners should not get an automatic berth. Power Points is all we need.

That was pretty funny. lol I hate the ones they show that has the guy eating with all the sauce flying out and the sloppy eating sounds. I quit eating there for a couple years because of it. Dont know why but it just turned my stomach.

I remember too. That was the 2003 Honaker team. Clintwood was 8-2 that year. Rye Cove was forced to play up in 03 and 04. They won the Cumberland both years for an automatic berth in the D2 playoffs. In 04 Haysi went 9-1 missing the playoffs.

Do what Region C is doing this year and I garantee no one would be left out again.

I dont hate the kids or the schools. I just hate the situations that the BDD causes sometimes. Like a weak Honaker team making the D2 playoffs and knocking out a team with more power points earned just because most times they only need to beat Haysi to win the BDD. But like I said before they should just eliminate the BDD altogether. Honaker would fit well in the CMD and would have to earn that spot in the playoffs then. Haysi would fit well in the LPD. Make it Clinch Mountain District Gate City Lee Virginia High John Battle Powell Valley Lebanon Honaker Lonesome Pine District Appalachia Clintwood J.I. Burton JJ Kelly Pound Haysi Thomas Walker Cumberland District Castlewood Coeburn Ervinton Rye Cove St Paul Twin Springs Hurley Twin Valley But if some of the SWD teams ever drop it would then make the BDD one of the toughest Single A districts in the state.
