So, was the weather so bad the other games needed to be cancelled?
-
I am extremely impressed with Hartley Hilton at QB. As a sophomore, he is doing a tremendous job leading the team, and he's got a cannon of an arm. I watched his HUDL video the other day. He made one throw rolling out to his left, threw the ball against his body for about 45 yards with ease for a strike. I know this years Tiger team is young, but they are looking pretty darn good. Should be a good measure of where they stand against GW tomorrow night.
I really hope to make it to a Honaker game this year now that I'm back in the good 'ole US of A!
Also, if you get a chance, Google the name Brittain Brown and take a look at his HUDL video. He's the RB/DB for Cherokee HS in Canton, GA (where I teach and live). He committed to Duke over Stanford, Clemson and a few other schools. He reminds me a little of Jalen Hurd for UT, who played HS in Roswell, GA, one of our region rivals.

Opening night for high school games in GA last night. I've got to say, I was impressed with the crowd for our home opener. It was electric and the jumbotron in a high school stadium was awesome. Cherokee Warriors defeated the Chattahoochee Cougars 51-23. The Warriors have size up front and speed everywhere. Going to be a fun fall.
Good luck in SWVA and to my Honaker Tigers!
-
If you are talking newspaper specific coverage, then hands down it would be BHC. Sacco and team do a phenomenal job with coverage. They have already starting some coverage, including the Top 10 games to see on the schedules.
As far as Internet specific, it doesn't get any better than SWVASports!
-
Yes, out of WCU. He's had one hell of a career there and a great senior season.
-
Do you see SWVA players going in next weeks draft. I know the Royals and Pirates have been scouting Austin Ray. Any other possibilities out there?
-
Cool redtiger. Maybe I'll get to meet them. What grade? If you make it down my way, let me know.

After 24 1/2 years in the US Air Force, I am retiring and leaving Germany after 5+ years. It's been quite the adventure and I've been to 60+ countries; however, I'm glad it's coming to an end. Military life is demanding and definitely not for everyone. My family and I will be retiring to Canton, GA, where I will be teaching Aerospace Science and Leadership Principles at Cherokee High School. It's going to be great and I look forward to being back in the prime for high school athletics. Hope to get home to see some Honaker games as well.
