I think Ridgeview wins their conference and goes into tournament play with much confidence. Don't know what good teams are outside our area that could be trouble for Ridgeview. Floyd County is always on the prowl.

Union got out rebounded and out hustled in my opinion. Gate City burst out with an early lead thru sharp shooting John Reed Barnes . He had at least 13 1st quarter points. Union played much better second half. Noaks had a good game. Rebounding was key in this game .

Barnes hot hand in the 1st quarter was huge! Think he had 16 in the 1st quarter.

6 weeks is right near when the state tournament is... Could be trouble for GC. Hope she recovers fast. Senior needs to be able to play their final season.

Was the Gose girl not playing for Gate City last night?

After GC crushing Wolfpack last night by nearly 30 and Union only winning by 2 against the Wolfpack I would give the nod to Gate City as the stronger team.. Friday should show us who is the best when they collide.

I watched Urspring of Germany defeat Father Carr of Canada last night and Wayne of Ohio demolish Union and St James of Maryland crush Sullivan East. Germans are really tall . Wayne was super good. St . James was really tall too. This is a great tournament. The talent is amazing. Everyone should go sometime if you have never been.

Gate City fall 80 -46 to Tift County Ga in Arby's Classic today.. Local teams going to have their hands full against the visitors. Gate City was 4-0 and had just defeated Tenn High the other night. Going to try to go watch Union play Monday night. Might be another spanking from Wayne Ohio.

West beat the East 30 -18 yesterday. Congrats to the West All Stars at Liberty!

Been a lot of fun watching the West All Star Seniors practice this week at Honaker. Having Richlands, Union, Hurley and Honaker guys...mixed with Ridgeview and others is quite a sight! Players been trading helmet stickers. Coach Colley former great coach of Haysi is an offensive wiz! Should be a great game versus the East All Stars this Sat at Emory!

Not sure if we can get that game back. Going to be working on a Tenn versus Tenn game next year over in NET...

How important it is to win a regular season game . It could be the difference in hosting a playoff game versus travelling hours from home. Home field advantage is important in the game of high school football. Central Wise losing to the Ky team forced them to travel to Dan River. Richlands losing by a point to Union forced them to travel to Appo. Wonder how Richlands would have played if they had Appo at home?

Lord Botty was beaten by Northside and Abingdon defeated Northside.. Think Abingdon might pull this one out. We will know tomorrow night. Great games everywhere Sat! Anything can happen in football! Weather should be pretty good too!

I say that Glenvar gets shocked by the Bears. Special teams will come into play. Bears with punt returns and kick off returns will play a big part in this game. Bears also feeding off thousands of fans packed in to watch!

Great football coming this weekend...My predictions are. Richlands 28 -26 over Appomattax Abingdon 30-27 over LB Union 28 -21 over Glenvar Radford 40-21 over GW Burton 21-20 over Galax

Game is at Burton on Sat. Both have potent offences. I'm pulling for the Raiders. Galax is very good. What's everyone's thoughts on this game?

Does Glenvar score lots of points on offense. I heard they are stingy on defense...but can they score points if the other team has the potential like Union to pass and run the ball and score lots of points? Should be a great game! Wonder what the weather will be like next Sat?

Burton controlled the line of scrimmage and wore RR down in the 4th quarter. Burton was up 14-6 in the 4th quarter and driving , then number 25 of RR gets back to back unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and was ejected from the game. Gave the ball to Burton near the 5 yd line and Burton scored and went up 20 to 6. On the kickoff Burton recovers the squib kickoff. Tra Adams the Burton qb then threw a long touchdown pass and Burton won 28 to 6. Just wonder how the game may have ended had the player not allowed his emotions to get the best of him..Looked like he was taunting the Burton sidelines or fans. He was flagged once..but did not stop. Flagged again. Cost his team a 30 yard penalty while just trailing 14 to 6...
