The thought of a personal trainer for high school football is outrageous! What is wrong with your father? Is he trying to undermine the coach? There is no place for that in football. You will never turn things around there until the parents let the coaches be coaches. Things haven't changed there.

I would have to say the maturing of Holston's team this year. They are young and started it off tough. They had quality opponents early, but really have developed in the last couple of weeks into a decent football team. Really enjoyed watching Coach Matlock and his staff put together a quality team this year.

I do think that Holston has their work cut out for them this Friday. Lets face it, GW is for real this year. However, many thought that the Indians were going to simply roll last Friday. Granted we lost the game but played very tough, my hats off to our coaching staff for getting our boys ready to play.

He maybe that but wouldn't consider him a good coach. Your offense is simple and easy to defend. We were calling your plays from the stands that night - sweep left, sweep right. You defense is worse. Holston ran 2 plays the second half and put 64 points on you. Like I said before, Matlock is the best coach in Washington County and doesn't get any credit. We love the fact you guys hired him. Absolute blow out. Ph is terrible and probably couldn't beat a JV team. Plus, GW's head coach is catching a lot of heat on hogo forum to play his starters for at least through the 4th qtr to prepare them for the playoffs. Triple digits could be the score.

I think Matlock is a tremendous coach. He can get heated but he has that swagger that a lot of coaches lack. He can wink at a kid, pat them on the back, its his quiet confidence that truly pulls that want to out of a player. He always gets the best out of his players and it shows. Imagine what he could do a large school.

I spoke with a friend from Honaker and he said he felt pretty good about the match-up. He said Honaker would beat Richlands if they hadn't recruited? Whatever that means? But, sure it will be a good match-up, I have to pull for the small school in this one, Honaker by 3.

I think they've always had athletes and this year is no different in that regard. The difference is that those athletes play football and not just baseball. They have a solid team, we played them tough even though the score doesn't reflect it. We turned the ball over and made poor decisions but my hats off to them. Good football team.

How many wins would Holston need this year to make the playoffs under the new system? Frankly I hate the new system because it really hurts small schools like Holston, Bath Co, Rural Retreat etc.
