  1. That is a good assessment in my opinion. The only thing that I would add to that is, you also have to contain Cody and not just blindly rush him. He is a very good running QB and he can light you up if you don't contain him. You also have to watch out for Devon running the ball. The Gmen will have to pick their poison on that night. You can't stop everything. The only way that the Gmen can keep it close is to keep the ball away Richlands. If they have a bunch of 3 and outs......look out, it could be a very long night for Graham. Speed kills, we know from when we use to have to play against Bradshaw and co......lol. Graham has played a little better lately, and this game makes me just a "little" nervous.
  2. I don't claim to know why they didn't play Princeton and frankly don't care, I do know that they beat everybody else they played so I would say that means their pretty good.
  3. The 8th grade team looks great though ! The future looks good again !
  4. The Johnsons are fantastic players as is several of the other guys that play for the blues. Jack Vance, Reese & Brad Strong, Cody Thomas, Will Lowe, and the list goes on, but our advantage over the other teams is, and has been, and I hope it is for many more years to come...........Mance and his staff. I know I'm biased here, but they have to be considered if not THE best, one of the best coaching staffs in Southwest Virginia. I know I just stated the obvious, but just like to give them their due.
  5. Good game Lebanon ! Have to give you guys props for not giving up. Played hard all game. Good luck the rest of your season. On the other hand, the Refs were bad. Bad calls and a lot of them for both sides. I know that for the most part they do the best they can, but good gosh. I was surprised at the scoring also. I thought it could be a close game, but I thought it might be more of a defensive game with maybe a few big play's deciding the game. A fun game to watch though !
  6. Next year should be a lot of fun for Richlands !! But this year hasn't been to bad itself. Just a little more consistency and this team could be special. I think for such a young team they have had a great season so far. As far as a high school team being perfect, nobody really expects them to be perfect, and there is nothing wrong in pointing out the things they need to work on. That's what you work for in practice, you know your not ever going to get perfect, but you work hard to try to be as close to perfect as you can.
  7. I think besides GC, this will be the toughest game Richlands has played. If the O for the blues will get consistent and not make mistakes and put the ball on the ground I think they will win, especially with the game at Ernie hicks. Both teams play good D and points will be hard to come by. I think the speed of the blues and the explosive nature of their O will be the difference. 1 mistake by the D and several players for Richlands are capable of scoring from anywhere on the field. But Lebanon has a good team and is talented also so it well be a good game. But I hope I'm wrong....lol Richlands 24 Lebanon 13
  8. I think with lockhart and mountain both back, I'll take Tazewell. 21 to 14
  9. .....LOL ! Yea I think your right, I believe he is sending one of those subliminal messages.....LOL
  10. Hope you guys beat em ! Should be a good game. Both teams like to control the ball with a good running game.
  11. Yea I got it. sent you one back .
  12. Why don't you go be a good little boy and play with your toys or yourself, and let the big guys talk about a good football game. Sometimes your pretty funny, and sometimes your just....... You really never have anything useful to say.
  13. What difference does it make ? They're on the team ! Some people act like Richlands has never won before they got here. We're good with them, and we were good before them, and we will probably be good after them. But that will be a few years down the road since there are 3 underclassmen of Johnson's, and glad to have them ! I guess we were suppose to to turn them down and not have them on the team, and I guess if they wanted to transfer to Marion, you would have turned them down and not let them play on your football team. Without them we would be a different type of team, but still pretty good. Don't mean to be touchy about it, it just seems like every week after we beat a team something like that is said. It would be one thing if we had never won anything before, but we have been dominate over the last 6 or so years. That's why some young men want to play for the blues ! Between the support of the fans & the facilities and the great coaching why wouldn't they want to play here, and why shouldn't they ?
  14. I just got home from the game, and it was a better game than what the score shows ! Marion played their hearts out. Good team. Had a couple of chances to hit open receivers in the 1st half but missed. That fullback is good. tough to bring down, but I thought he started to wear down a little in the 4th. Talking about play calling, I couldn't understand on Marion's next to last series why they ran the ball with 4 mins to go in the game and down 3 scores. It was like he had conceded at that point. But then on the last series he tried to throw the ball when It was to late. I think their chances of winning the game on the next to last series was 0 but I just couldn't understand why he ran it 3 times up the middle. I'm glad he did, it ran a lot of clock off. Richlands has got to stop putting the ball on the ground. That could really hurt them in the playoffs and they still need to be a little more consistent on O. But man they can be explosive. Able to score from anywhere at any time. Good luck Marion next week, I'll be pulling for ya !
  15. Yea he played and I played and so have a lot of other guys on here, but the way you talk, I can tell you've never played. Maybe a little 2 hand touch in the back yard or something........I doubt that. Please pull for Marion, if you pulled for the blues I'm afraid they may play like the Falcons ! You can do a little more talking when Abingdon win's the district or at least beat Richlands. Right now, you are just a mouth !
  16. Got a lot of respect for you guys that work there ! That's gotta be tough sometimes dealing with some of them. Gotta be hard to keep your cool with the way some of them act toward you guys. With my temper, I'd be in trouble. Sorry to hear about Lockhart and the other injuries the dogs have. I hate to see any high school player get those kind of injuries. Believe me..........you pay for em later in life. I have a lot of trouble out of both of my knees and my right shoulder. I've had 4 knee surgeries and I shoulder surgery, and that was after my playing days.....LOL
  17. Thanks, I saw him go in but did not catch his name......
  18. Grundy is much improved and is playing good football, and I'm glad for the kids there ! But I don't know that I would say that Grundy is a great team.....yet. Will have to see how they do against the rest of the district first. 1 district game = 1 district loss, although the loss was against a undefeated Marion team. They did give Marion all they could handle and almost pulled off the win. But you know what they say about almost. But Grundy for sure is not the auto win for teams like they were in the past few years. This Grundy team seems to have a lot of heart and will fight you till the end........or so I have heard and read. I haven't had the chance to watch them play yet.
  19. Hey Bulldog52, who is your backup QB, and is he more of a runner or thrower or pretty well balanced, and how bout Mountain, is he able to play this week ? I think you guys even without Lockhart will beat Honaker, but without Mountain and Lockhart it could be a little closer. Tazewell 24 Honaker 13
  20. Now why did you have to go there ? You want to pull for your team great ! You don't like something somebody said, then call him out and argue your point, but you didn't have to get personal and start calling Lance or anybody else names. He's been fair and is allowed to voice his opinion. That's just not smart and now you know why most on here are quick to jump on "some" falcon supporters. Lance, I know you don't need me or anybody else to take up for ya, I just hate to see things like that said ! By the way, CC is to phisical for Abingdon..........CC 34 - Abingdon 13 !
  21. Couldn't have said it better myself......good job !
  22. ......LMAO ! I know how you feel. Back in the 80's you guys beat us just about every year ! I think it was like 8 out of 10 games or something like that. All I know is, I just wanted us to win one game there for a while.
  23. Not classy........up 21 in the 1st or 2nd quarter I can't remember which ? There were still 2 or 3 quarters of football to play ! Anything can happen at that point. Your on the road against your rival on their field and they have shown in previous games the ability to throw the ball and come back in games.........you have to try to put them away ! Smart move....period ! If it had been in the 4th quarter and up 3 or 4 td's then I would agree with you, but not in the first or 2nd quarter and up 3 scores !
  24. Not really clouded my memory, just trying not to be too cocky....lol Richlands has the potential to be extremely good this year and has been in spurts. But they can also be inconsistent on O and and you just never know what can happen in a HS game, especially at their place. The D has been fantastic as always, and the special teams have been very good also. One thing I love about this team is their ability to quickly score from anywhere on the field. You always feel like they have a shot to score on any play from anywhere. I love the potential of this team. Just need to be a little more consistent. I think they were starting to hit their stride against Abingdon, but the week off slowed their momentum. With their, speed, ability, and coaching..........they'll get there and it may be this week ! Richlands 35 Marion 13
  25. From what I saw on that play, you are right. I talked to Mark ( the trainer ) and he told me that he went to the ground because of very bad cramps. I think that everybody got caught up with the punt and looked back and saw strong on the ground and thought he was roughed. At first I was one of em.....LOL ! But my friend was watching the punter ( he punted in HS ) and told me what happen. he thought he twisted his ankle, but we found out it was cramps. By the way, the radio said it was actually 4th & 70.....ouch ! I just hope we got that series out of our system and wont have any more like that !
