Tim Hayes said Rye Cove has 47 players which is an incredible testament to how far the program has come in the last two years
I remember them struggling to field a team in the pre-Covid years

It's that time of year again! This year's preseason poll includes the usual top 12 rankings plus the optional district and regional picks
Picks are due by August 21 at 5 PM

Just from looking at the satellite view on Google Maps:
Marion
J.I. Burton
Castlewood
Twin Springs
-
Not counting my own team, I think Graham has my favorite (charcoal and maroon) and least favorite (yellow and yellow) uniforms
-
Prince and Patrick are twins actually so they've both graduated
-
Going to play for Billy Wagner
I understand the desire to play for a higher-level program, but he's already got his college choice sewn up & I wish he would have stayed local (even though he plays for our arch rivals)
-
The Two Bluefields will both bring home state titles for the first time since 1962 (first time in the playoff era in Virginia)
Jenkins cancels their season before Virginia High can play them and we wind up playing a different, more respectable, team from the Bluegrass State
-
I, along with most others from our area, assumed Battle was the favorite to win Class 2 baseball this spring and so I was shocked to see not just that they lost in the state quarters but the margin of defeat as well
Was it just an off night or is Patrick County that good?
-
Couldn't be happier for the young man, especially after the catastrophic injury
He's the first Virginia High player to commit to an FBS team since Ian Frye, who played kicker for UVA from 2011-15

Nah, it was the Clinch Mountain starting in 2007

I am so proud of our guys for rallying behind Brody and to our coaches for making the quick adjustments to give Deshaun the best opportunity to succeed. Lee played a hard fought game but ultimately I think our speed made the difference
Please keep Brody in your prayers, he's got a compound fracture in his leg and underwent surgery last night
-
Also I found out some more info regarding the change of venue from a source on the inside
So the city of Bristol owns the field & they decided the game couldn't be played there due to poor field conditions, despite protests from the superintendent, AD, coaches, players, fans, etc
-
Who's playing QB now that Jones is hurt?

Brody Jones was carted off on VHS's first drive and is in a leg cast. Disaster for the Bearcats, hope he's okay
-
Another note on this game:
Out of the 11 current Region 2D teams, VHS and Lee have the least and second-least playoff wins since 2000.
9. John Battle (3)
10. Virginia High (2)
11. Lee (1)

Man, this Union/GC game is an instant classic
Glad I tuned in while at the mechanic in Houston
-
Not sure about NFHS but the Bearcat Radio Network will be covering the game starting around 6:45

I'll never forget that Lee and Appomattox played a home-and-home in back-to-back playoffs. What a state
-
Given that this would have been our 3rd home playoff game EVER, I can't believe they would move to a neutral site
-
Crazy fact:
Including the pre-1970 championship games, Virginia High has never won a home playoff game. Not one. All their previous playoff wins have come on the road or at neutral sites
The only wins in the modern era:
1973: Pulaski (played at Radford HS)
1987: at Richlands, at Marion (for the Division 4 Region IV championship)
2004: at Grundy
2013: at Gretna
We've also only hosted two playoff games, both losses:
2002: Grundy
2017: Marion

That depends on the outcome of Lee/Abingdon & GC/Ridgeview. The points are incredibly tight between Lee, Union, GC, and VA High right now
If my assumptions are correct & the games fall as I think they will (Lee and Ridgeview victories), a Richlands victory over VHS would produce this:
3. Lee
4. Union
5. GC
6. VA High
But as always there are so many variables with the rider points that I can't tell you that with a great deal of certainty
Regardless, tomorrow night is going to be fun as we figure this stuff out
-
Richlands winning would give Union a home playoff game
