  1. Marion record is not good, but they will give you a fit. Their offense is not bad at all, especially with the Sharpe kid, who can run with the best. Marion's problem is more on defense. Canes said it best: Marion is a few years away from being right there with the best again. Look for a game in the first half, but Ridgeview will wear Marion down in the 2nd half. Best of luck to both teams.
  2. What is the capacity of Richlands stadium, and when will the gates open on THURSDAY ??
  3. What we are talking about is simply a case of poor judgement. You can't get the paste back in the tube, but if the principal won't agree a little peer pressure from the other schools in the district may help. If he still dosen't agree about 6 months of a very cold shoulder from all the other principal just may send a strong message to the guy that they are all in this game together; If he won't play ball, he better not need a favor from anybody in that district. It all about the kids folks; They are going to make mistakes in life, but principals should not act like children. Lessons have already been learned by this student athlete.
  4. Abingdon has one of the best teams in SWVA. Well balanced on Offense and a descent defense. Abingdon needs to keep focused because there are teams out there like VHS that have the potential to knock them off. This is a rival game, but AHS is just to strong for VHS. AHS by 14.
  5. I was under the impression that if the principals from both schools agreed that the ejection should not be warranted, then the ejection may be withdrawed.
  6. I would contribute to the schools for a before and after school meal program. There are many kids that come to school hungry and leave school not knowing if they will have a meal before bed. It is very hard for me to set at my table and eat, knowing that there are children out there without food to eat. It is a situation that really exist in SWVA and across this nation. Contact your local authorities and seek out the nearest food bank and donate. God will reward you!
  7. It is good to see PH have another successful season. PH has great potential every year. They have good enrollment at around 400, and their facilities are very good. Coach Palmer and staff have put together a winning program. I think the days of being a pushover are gone. Congrats to PH!
  8. Battle enjoyed a lot of success when Coach Wright was there, but the program is down from what it was a few years ago. I saw Ridgeview early in the year. I say this: Ridgeview will be hard to handle in a few years. That facility is the best in SWVA period. And once the kids to used to the change, look out. This consolidation comes from two of most successful programs in the state. Having said that, the bloodlines are there for that winning tradition to continue. Best of luck to both teams, but RV just has to many players for Battle. RV by 14 or more.
  9. PH's football program has been turned around by Coach Palmer. PH is no longer a push over. There are a lot of schools that would love to have Palmer as heaad coach, especially the one at exit 35 from what I am hearing. PH will be to strong for the Cav's. PH by at least 14.
  10. I think redtiger said it best that Honaker numbers will wear on Hurley. Both teams are hard nosed clubs, but I have to go with Honaker in this one. Again, this will mean a bunch of points to the winner. I think it will be close.
  11. JI Burton's shutout win over Honaker 28-0, is impressive. I think Burton just may be the best 1ATeam in the west. I know Honaker is not as strong as is the past several years, but Burton along with G Wythe and Radford are the top 3 in the west at this point..
  12. CJ Graves??? What team, missed that,...........
  13. I am assuming Giles- Glenvar reset for Saturday ???
  14. What about TwSp & R Cove ?????
  15. Sorry, just now seen it, 28-0 JIB !!
  16. What's the latest on JIB & Honaker ?????
  17. I guess the Honaker fans will have to judge for themselves just how big those hogs are!
  18. I watched Burton earlier in the season, and to say their Offensive line is huge is an understatement. It has to be right up there with the largest in SWVA. And those guys can block! The RB's hit the holes with some quickness too, and they have about 3 backs. The QB is pretty good also, and can throw with accuracy. In other words, Burton has a good ball club that will be hard to defend. I am sure they have improved in the last month, so to beat Burton, Honaker will have to limit Burton's possessions. It will be a good game.Best of luck to both teams. Lot of points at stake in this one!
  19. May God bless and heal this young man, Derrick. May the Lord be with him and at his side, blessing each one that is caring for him. May The Lord also bless is friends and family. We ask this in the name of our Holy Father. Amen
  20. The AD's and other school officials do what is in the best interest of every student, coach, and fan. Sometimes it doesn't set well with all involved, but that is their jobs, and 99% of the they do it very well. We can adjust our schedules, but the kids safety comes first in every case .Thanks folks for doing a tough job well.
  21. Let us all put sports aside for a few moments and reflect upon the shooting at the College in Oregon in Prayer to our Lord. May our Father in Heaven comfort each family during this very difficult time. May God be with them in this time of greif. Amen.

    Bland

Bland has to be one of the best stories in this young season. I know some are saying they haven't played a strong schedule, but so what. Heck, Bland is undefeated, yes unbeaten. To me that is great. There is still hope for the little guy. There is still success for those that beleive in themselves from a small farming community, to be ranked in the top ten in the State. Can you imagine what it is like to walk the halls of those schools on Friday. Can you imagine the school spirit and pride in those halls. This is stuff for "Rudy" and " Hoosiers ", right hear in our back door. When I look at the scores on Friday night, what school do I look for, The Bland Bears! Go Bears!
  23. No offense to either team, but I just thought maybe some of the players or coachesor even fans might be just a little nervous at some point in the game. Usually, the " Butterflies " happen early, or in some games, late during a close game. Guess you never experienced that sensation in all the games you played in or watched. Sorry, for the post, and I did not mean to offend anyone by my post. Please remove the post if you where offended. By saying the Butterflies would have a field day, I was implying that both teams might have a case of the nerves at some point. Again, sorry if you took offense at my poor choice of words and at a lame choice of words on an attempt of a little humor.
  24. No doubt Marion is down this year, but Marion is young and learning each game. Marion is very capable of winning this one, if they cut down on their mistakes. Cane's D is suspect. On the other side of line, Tazewell has a decent ball club, but last week against RR is no indication of Tazewell's ability. Tazewell problem is defense, and I see Marion being able to run and run. Marion by 3.
  25. Abingdon had better not take Graham lightly, if so it will be a sad night for the Falcons. Nothing would make Graham's season more than beating the Falcon's. Falcon's by 10.
