I was watching the TV last night, and one of the sports anchors said GW was the best team That he had seen this year. I totally agree that GW is a darn good team this year. I don't Know what the West brackets looks like, but it may come down to GW and Galax for the best In the West.

Patrick Henry will have RB Humphrey back for this game, but GW just has to many horses To pull off the upset,in my opinion. Coach Palmer has done a great job at PH, but GW has one of best teams in SWVA. GW is just about in a class by themselves when they play up To Their potential.

Well folks, I read in the newspaper yesterday that Tazewell football Head Coach Allen had been Fired. The news did not surprise me, as rumors had been saying that changes were on the way. Well Folks, for those that wanted change, you got it. As many had said, when one door closes, another door opens. That is true in this case. Coach Allen Will be missed by his players and friends that knew him best. I would think that he brought more Positive influences to the program than negatives. Coach Allen legacy will be one of hard work and Dedication to a program he loved, and to the players he worked so hard to help influence their Lives in a positive way. Coach Allen can lift his head high today, knowing he gave it his all to The young men and sport he loved. He will be missed by those who knew him as a friend, and did Not count his success by win or losses, but by his character and desire in win for the kids he Loved. Folks, the revolving door in the Head Coaches office at THS has to stop at some point. Winning Appears to be the main common denominator in all these Coaching changing, but what has been the Results? A firm foundation was set by Coach Allen I presume, just like most Coaches. A foundation That called for winning, but also for building character and self esteem in his young men that he Coached. Well, here we go again. The search is on for another Head Football Coach at Tazewell. Seems like I have heard that phrase before. To the new Coach, I wish whoever it is The very best in producing a winning team in terms of wins and loses at Tazewell. If you don't, well That bus that Coach Allen was kicked under, well, you will probably find yourself under it too if You lose more games than you win. May God Bless Coach Allen, and May God lead him in the right direction for the sport he loves.

A lot of people have been down on Hurley because of their schedule, but Parry McCluer's Schedule is just about as soft as Hurley's. Hurley's best bet is control the ball and clock. If PM does not have the ball, they can't Score. It may come down to turnovers, and field position. I expect a great game. Hurley by 2.

Folks, I said a few days ago that Graham was my pick to win the State this year. We'll I Got quite a bit of resistance from that opinion, and that was what it was, my opinion. I am still sticking with the GMEN, until someone knocks them off. Whoever does beat them Will probably be the A2 Champ. Right now Graham is still my pick to win it all. Each team is to be commended for their Dedication and hard work they have put in since August and before in order to give Us football fans some darn good football to watch in SWVA.

This Glenvar vs Gate City game probably will be an Ole fashion slobber knocker, with some players Looking out of their ear hole of the helmet. Gate City has played one heck of a tough schedule. It's A wonder they got enough players left to field a team. But, It's Gate City folks. Probably any other School would have raised the white flag, and surrendered, but not GC. Glenvar is a school that seems to thrive at playoff time in all sports. They are tough bunch, and Play sound fundenmental football. I expect Glenvar to give GC all they want, then more. In order For GC to win, the Devils will have to play a smart game, and make few mistakes, and take it to Glenvar. It will be close, and the team with the fewest mistakes and best field positions will take this one.

I feel that this football season would not have been successful if we did not Thank the very ones the put so much time and dedication into making this season Truly enjoyable for us all. Coaches give their all to make Friday nights extra special for our communities. We often overlook their time and commitment they put into the sport, from the Hot days of August to the chill of November. Coaches are special people. They love the kids they coach. They love the schools They represent, and they love their Maker. We are truly blessed in SWVA to have Great Coaches directing our kids to a better future, and helping them build Character that will enable them to become good citizens of our communities. dukey, no argument here about the current coach. I thought the job was open. My bad. Sometimes A community will find out what the problem is if they do only one thing: Look in the Mirror! Let the Coaching staff Coach, and stay the hxxx away from practice, and not hold court on them After a loss. I would think there is so much pressure on the kids, all the fun of football Has been taken away, and replaced by a lot of Saturday morning quarterbacking.

If the current coach has stepped down, the carousel continues at Tazewell. Something Is wrong somewhere. Constantly changing Head Coaches may be contributing to the problem. Tazewell is a good community and has a good school system. If things don't change soon, With all these coaching changes, but with the same results, the school will get a bad Reputation among the coaching fraternity. If Coach Jack Turner has applied for the job, Tazewell would be very lucky to get A Coach of his quality and ability. He turned the football program around at Auburn. Folks in Riner were very sad to see him leave. I am surprised to hear his name in The mix. Having lived in Tazewell for a short time, I wish the best for the school and community.

I hope the election of Donald Trump helps the coal industry and brings Back jobs to SWVA. I know that this is not a sports statement, but we Are hurting in SWVA, and something had to be done to help our families, Schools, and children. May God bless our new President and help him Lead our great country in the days to come.

Hurley is the favorite to win against Rural Retreat. I agree, but Rural Retreat will be no Pushover over. Year in and year out, RR can play with the best. They usually are strong in The line, and come at you with that veer offense. Hurley will probably win, but RR may give them a game. Both teams can score some points, so A high scoring game for both teams is to be expected. As stated earlier, if Hurley completely Blows RR out, then that makes a statement as to how deep the Rebels could go into the post Season. Best of luck to both teams.
