six4three 10 Report Share Posted April 3, 2006 there is actually enough room for two basketballs to go through a hoop simultaneously, not just 3 inches.

EH31 2,532 Report Share Posted April 3, 2006 yeah there is  Today's basket is an 18-inch-diameter (46 cm) metal rim, with a 15- or 18-inch-long (38 or 46 cm), open-ended nylon net extending below it.  The rim is actually about twice the diameter of a regulation basketball. In the NBA, the official ball is made of leather and has a circumference of 30 inches (76 cm) and a diameter of 9 inches (23 cm).

xbmacx 10 Report Share Posted November 13, 2006 actually. softball is the toughest sport. but baseball is up there too. sorta. baseball doesn't rly run that much. us softball girls run more than the track team for real. Â but yeah. I think Whitney Davis could become pro in something. if not do rly well. She starts centerfield as a freshman over a senior at Virginia Tech for softball. Girl works her butt off, not to mention she's really smart. Gosh i miss D. but yeah. They have pro softball now. I can see her doing that, maybe even olympic softball! dcecilgolf 11 Report Share Posted December 6, 2006 I have a cousin who is a sophomore in college playing softball for FAU, which is a pretty good team. Won their conference (Sun Belt) and eventually lost to Florida in the NCAA. Â Her brother is a senior in HS and is being recruited to play baseball by at least 4 schools, one of those is WVU. Â But they live in huge schools in Florida and have lots of exposure at camps and such.

dcecilgolf 11 Report Share Posted December 18, 2006 Haha, nope Just saying that it takes a lot of exposure from big schools and big camps to get noticed by colleges. Hard to do around here.

dcecilgolf 11 Report Share Posted January 4, 2007 Baseball is not the hardest sport to go pro in, not even close. Make it to the major leagues, maybe the hardest. But not the hardest overall, just think, all of the farm league players are pros, they just haven't made it yet. But they are still professional baseball players. BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted January 4, 2007 The percentage of high school and college players who get to play minor league baseball is very low. Sure there are more jobs in baseball but there is also more competition for those jobs. Baseball scouts and signs players from all over the world, especially from Latin America where they eat, sleep and breathe baseball from the time they are big enough to hold a bat. GmanFan 21 Report Share Posted January 7, 2007 I read a recent study that said the odds of a high school athlete going pro in any sport is 1 in 16,000. It didn't say what the odds were for the individual sports though.
