pauley10 10 Report Share Posted September 8, 2007 Yea the officials were horrible though.Probably one of the worst called games ive ever seen. One of them cussed out a player from pocy and called him a name or two and then about ten or 5 seconds after the game was over #88 from Big Creek took a cheapshot at one of our lineman and almost broke his neck and that started a big fight that broke out on the sidelines that continued to the teams lockerooms. EH31 2,532 Report Share Posted September 9, 2007 has anyone heard of a personal foul not resulting in an automatic first down? big creek officials have. we played a terrible game, and there's no excuses about that. we had the ball in scoring position 4 or 5 times, and didn't. but something seriously needs to be done about those refs. the game got way out of hand. Neondion1 10 Report Share Posted September 10, 2007 I agree that the game could have been managed much better by the officials but even in that event the outcome would have been the same. BC was the better team Friday night. A shame that the topic of discussion for the game is the officiating....good or bad. An unfortunate for both teams, their fans and families. publicschoolfan 10 Report Share Posted September 10, 2007 Pocahontas ball on about their own 30 yard line. Third down and about 20. A receiver (the only one on that side) runs an out pattern, catches the ball, turns up field and is tackled about 5 yards later. Fourth down and 12. No wait hear comes a flag. The call pass interference. Automatic first down. You figure it out. Could the official have made a mistake. Nope. Only receiver out their. Yep. Just a cheating Virginia official homing a West VA. school. I dont doubt one bit that you got cheated at Big Creek. I have seen it happen on more than one occasion. The referee James Click is the worst for it at Big Creek and especially Iaeger, but the same thing happens at Poca and many other places. UKCats1 10 Report Share Posted September 10, 2007 Sorry a personal foul in high school football does not carry an automatic first down. Only things that carry automatic first downs are defensive pass interference, roughing holder/kicker, roughing passer, and roughing the snapper. POCYHOKIE 10 Report Share Posted September 10, 2007 Pocahotas coachs are the worst i have ever seen!!!!!!
POCYHOKIE 10 Report Share Posted September 10, 2007 Both teams need dicipline. We all know that comes back to the kind of coachs. The offence PHS ran was crazy. You need 4.3 speed to run that. "JOKE" At the end of the game when PHS had know chance the great coachs were still trying to score. "THAT WAS STUPID" Run it up the middle the take a knee. Then BCHS has no chance for a cheap shot like that!
Popeye 32 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 The call was personal foul (piling on)and here is the ruling: 9-4-2c Pile onto any player who is lying on the ground. Personal Foul/15 yard Penalty Placement of the ball: 10-1-5 Enforcement of a penalty cannot take the ball more than half the distance from the enforcement spot to the team's goal. The ball is placed halfway from the spot of enforcement to the goal line when the penalty yardage prescribed is greater than half the distance to the goal. The officials were correct in the call! Popeye 32 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 That would be teaching the kids to give up in the face of adversity. I agree to a point about running the ball and accepting the loss, but how would that have changed the outcome of the play? If someone has malicious intentions the play call will not change the outcome.
Popeye 32 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 Navy runs the same offense along with Airforce and various high school teams around the country(all with some degree of success). I doubt seriously if 4.3 speed is that common.
FatBoy 10 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 There ain't never been no 4.3 speed around here; even when Popeye caught Olive Oil messing around with Wimpy!
Popeye 32 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 In a race betwen you and Wimpy to the hamburger shack, 4.3 speed means your in the back!!!!!!
Popeye 32 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 True enough!! There are bad calls and lots of no calls every weekend. If you go into a game expecting it, then have to prepare harder and be better than both the stripes and your opponent
POCYHOKIE 10 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 Popeye said it navy runs that offence. Last time I checked their D-1. Whos the high school? Hampton!lol Lothanis a genus.lol lol
EH31 2,532 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 Plenty of high school teams run the same offense. So should we go back to spread? That got us 1-9 and 0-10 in 2 years.
POCYHOKIE 10 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 No stupid you need speed for that. Run something like a power I.Quit changing the offense. Look at teams like Giles. You don"t change Every Year.It might work on Lothans X box or Play station. So unplug the games and let someone who knows how to win coach.LIke Arny Walters!!!!!!!! Pokemon 10 Report Share Posted September 11, 2007 Who cares? Its just a game. Go to another forum to talk small town things. Point is: NO ONE CARES... you people take up space discussing Pocahontas/Big Creek. The problem will be solved with the consolidation of both schools. LONG OVERDUE. Perhaps then everyone will garner a higher education. No offense POKIEHOKIE but your typing is a prime example of why the school was not accredited. It seems the current students have done a incredible job of turning things around, but all for not. See ya at Graham in a year or so. Please keep the 1A talk for a website that carries it. EH31 2,532 Report Share Posted September 12, 2007 #1. We are accredited. You can check out the signs if you want to. #2. "POCYHOKIE" you are a horrible speller. #3. Our lineman are more fast than they are strong, so Power I probably isn't a good idea. We've had some bad games, but this offense will work. We had it working at Craig County, 390 rushing yards. #4. It's called "SWVAfootball.com" not "onlydoubleAschoolscantalkhere.com" If anyone is going to tell anyone else not to post on here, it sure isn't going to be you. I've been on here for a couple years and a couple thousand posts and noone has said anything to me.
Popeye 32 Report Share Posted September 12, 2007 Berkner High School - Richardson Texas Mansfield Summit High School – Arlington Texas Baldwin High School –Pittsburg PA Severna Park High School, Severna Park MD Central High School, Fresno CA Raleigh-Egypt High – Memphis TN Armwood High School - Seffner, FL Victoria Memorial High School - Victoria, Tx North Tonawanda High School - North Tonawanda, NY Worthington Kilbourne High School -Columbus, OH Shawnee High - Springfield, Ohio Broadneck High School Annapolis MD Oñate High School - Las Cruces, NM Triple option football works because 1. you dont need an overwelming line 2. Speed helps but is not important(mismatches are the key) 3. creates confusion for defenses
