bhs7695 185 Report Share Posted February 4, 2008 I was hoping for "Learning To Fly" I can't believe a reporter for MSNBC thinks that the powers that be maybe switch to a comedy act like Monty Python or Chris Rock. Why do people want so much risk for a halftime performance?? I was also glad to see that the commercials were not so sexually charged this year and they got rid of that godaddy crap. Mainstream TV during one of the biggest stages in all of sports is not the place for that kind of advertising. Leave it on the internet with the rest of the pornography and direct people to your website if they want to see it.

GetMoney55 11 Report Share Posted February 4, 2008 you have no clue what youre talking about. music is evolutionary, its influencial. rock and roll, like beano said, was a huge contraversy when it was first made big by the beatles. churches and everyone else were calling them satan worshipers because they played "devil music." Not all rap is the gangsta stuff that is so exploited. Many rap artists, for example The Roots and Lupe Fiasco, are not gangsta rappers and write good lyrics that arent about pushing drugs and killing thugs. If rap were truly garbage, these artists, gangsta rappers or not, wouldnt be selling millions of albums and gaining money and fame across the world. Your opinion is yours and yours only, and just because you dont happen to like rap doesnt mean it is garbage. If you consider most rock music to be crap now, let me inform you that the hardcore scene which is big across the world and has been growing ever since 2003 has been very influencial for the right reasons. Many kids getting into that scene take on the lifestyle of straightedge, a drug free, slut free, alcohol free lifestyle. Now rock and roll music that came out around your time was very big into putting the use of drugs and alcohol out there. Many artists were huge into doing those illegal activities and werent ashamed of it. Now, you have the main hardcore scene encouraging youth to stay away from body poisoning substances and to live above bad influences. The people involved with the scene spreading around are known for having their fun at shows, playing music, interacting with their friends and the bands, not out performing illegal activities endangering the lives of not only themselves but of others as well. As for respecting your elders, young people deserve respect too. Your comments that our music is crap are completely disrespectful. Respect goes any way, whether old, young, fat, skinny, white, black, tall, short, anything. No one on this thread insulted your music of preference and yet you have to get on here and designate that modern music is crap and simply "noise." You could have easily placed your opinion in stating that you dont like modern music, but no, you had to become Mr. Simon Cowell himself and give yourself the right to say it is crap. If anyone has thrown respect out of the window, it is you.

[/ QUOTE ] I can just see this thread going up in flames with a dispute between the younger generations vs. the older generations... The only thing that I want to point out is that neither generation has the respect of the other when it comes to their music. The teens of today do not respect the music that their parents have grown up on and likewise, the parents have no respect for their children's music. Being of the younger generation, I would probably classify my music tastes as to exceptionally different to most people my age, but I will take to the defense of today's music and say that it has nothing to do with the morals and civil respect of a person. I know many people who listen to "rap" music and are MUCH more civilized than anyone I know who chooses to listen to something else, regardless of age. trublue 939 Report Share Posted February 5, 2008 ....quoting from AJC.....when asked whether he had "Runnin' Down a Dream" or any other Petty tunes in his iPod, 23-yr-old Giants WR Brandon London asked reporters, "Who is Tom Petty? Isn't he the racecar driver?" BTW, Petty (Tom, that is...lol) is a big Gators fan, a Gainesville, FL native.
futbolking 766 Report Share Posted February 5, 2008 I was being sarchastic in response to beano going off because I don't like what passes for music nowadays.... Just a bunch of noisy crap, if you ask me. Didn't know he would take my opinion about it so personal. It is interesting, however that nearly everybody agrees that the halftime shows have been MUCH better since they've been doing the "old - school" stuff, rather than the inaudible current crap.
