Grundy10 10 Report Share Posted February 14, 2008 I heard Blacksburg may have lost a few key players due to an off court issue. Does anybody know if this is true?

Grundy10 10 Report Share Posted February 15, 2008 The place to be is the SW #1 and the SW #4. Easiest 2 roads IMO, even though they run through each other.
futbolking 766 Report Share Posted February 21, 2008 Neither one of them are "easy" roads..I predict that NO SWD team will make it out of the 1st round of Regionals.
Grundy10 10 Report Share Posted February 21, 2008 Unfortunatly, your prediction is already wrong since the #1 seed from the SW gets a "bye" in the first "round". If you look at the bracket and tell me that the SW #4 and the SW #1 dont have the "easiest" first couple of rounds in the tournament then you dont know whats going on in the rest of the region. Any way you can avoid the RR district you have a much easier road. At one time I know they had 3 teams ranked top 10. Blacksburg has already beat the probable PD #2 Martinsville by 40 and Blacksburg is the "probable" #2 from the RR district.
mhsalum 31 Report Share Posted February 24, 2008 bburg did smack martinsville in the mouth in the northside christmas tournament. but in that case, bburg came out hot and mhs just laid down. no doubt blacksburg is the better team this year, but i wouldn't expect that outcome on most nights. the swd #4 is no easy road for one reason...they have to travel to the doghouse. this is by far not one of mhs's best teams (understatement), but in those tight quarters with 13 state title banners overlooking you, you may as well spot the home team 10 points before the ball is even tossed up. GMan 3,569 Author Report Share Posted February 24, 2008 [ QUOTE ] What happened to Pulaski? [/ QUOTE ] They lost to Blacksburg in the semifinals and Salem in the consolation. As for "what happened to them"...nothing. They played well, its just that the River Ridge is LOADED.
GMan 3,569 Author Report Share Posted February 24, 2008 [ QUOTE ] Does anybody know anything about Salem? [/ QUOTE ] They are a good team. They lost several really close games during the regular season to Hidden Valley, Blacksburg, and Pulaski. They'll beat Graham by 30+... Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted February 24, 2008 It's pretty screwed up when two lowly teams such as Graham and Marion make the regionals, but a team such as Pulaski is sitting at home. The Virginia system needs an overhaul...

The Virginia system needs an overhaul... [/ QUOTE ] I think its sad that any team from the SWD makes the Regionals... [/ QUOTE ] Why? [/ QUOTE ] Because the SWD teams are TERRIBLE. Here's a bit of food for thought... Abingdon, the SWD champion, lost to Pulaski Co., who didn't even qualify for the Region tournament, by 41 earlier in the season. Carroll Co., the SWD tournament champion, squeaked by Patrick Co. of the Piedmont District by 10 and four this season. Patrick Co. lost to 3-17 Tunstall in the Piedmont tournament play-in game. Patrick Co. also lost to Martinsville by 29 and Bassett by 37 during the regular season. Martinsville lost to Blacksburg by 38 earlier this year, just for comparative purposes. Graham already had a taste of Bassett earlier in the year and lost by 33 and it wasn't that close as Bassett pulled its starters in the 2nd quarter. Bassett and Martinsville split their two regular season matchups. Hidden Valley beat Region III, Seminole District Champion Brookville (19-4) twice this season by 21 and 32, respectively. Region III, Blue Ridge District Champion, Lord Botetourt, lost to Martinsville, Salem, and Blacksburg (twice).

[/ QUOTE ] usually i agree with you on things here lately but not this... but thats why you have a tournament to play cause anyone can win on any given day... did graham not beat grundy and marion the past 2 nights? they have been showing life here lately and the end of the season runs is what matters, ill agree that i think salem or some other schools will win, probly by 20 or more (dont know how good they are) but still graham actually won out in the district tourny and deserves to be there even if they aint the best team...
