Also, all three brackets they have listed for when each District is the tournament host lists the SWD with four teams... [ QUOTE ] Basketball 1. Director’s Fee: $350.00—Satellite Director-$75.00 2. Playing Site and brackets: Districts will host the basketball tournament on a rotating basis as outlined in the general regulations. Corresponding Brackets are located in regional handbook. 3. Game times: Satellite games—7:00p.m. Semi-final games—6:00 & 8:00p.m. Final game—7:00p.m. 4. Admission Fee: $5.00 5. Officials and fees: Association used by the host district and assigned by director. Fees will be $10.00 above district fee plus approved travel. 6. Team Reimbursement: The participating teams will be reimbursed as outlined in the budget regulations. (page 2) 7. Passes: VHSCA—VIAAA—VATA—VSBA—Principals state membership cards. Each participating school shall submit a guest list, not to exceed fifteen guests and each member school may request four guests, to the host director for complimentary entrance. 8. Region IV Qualifiers: Southwest District will have four representatives, River Ridge and Piedmont will have three representatives each. 9. Home Team: Home team is designated on the tournament brackets of the regional handbook. Note: Higher seeds will always be home when hosting a lower seed. 10. Official Ball: The official ball will be the same as the State Association adopted ball. 11. Hospitality room: Not to exceed $100.00 (tournament host director only) 12. Cheerleaders from the competing schools will be admitted if in cheerleading uniforms. Cheering squads are limited to the number of varsity members used by their schools during regular season. No musical instruments or noisemakers are allowed by spectators at the tournament. Kicking of bleachers is not allowed. No handheld signs or banners are permitted except those used by the host school for instructional purposes. 13. Facilities shall be provided to local radio stations, which desire to broadcast the tournament games. A $50.00 fee shall be charged to each station for each game broadcast. Broadband - $50.00; TV stations----$500.00 for a Tape delay---$2000.00 for a live broadcast. 14. Awards: 2 Trophies (Championship and Runner-Up) Medals (15 First Place) 15. State Qualifiers: Region IV Champion and Region IV runner-up. 16. All-Regional Selection Procedure: The all-region team will consist of a first and second team. Each team will consist of five members for boys and girls. The All Region team is to be selected by the district champion and district runner-up coaches with an athletic director as coordinator at a meeting held after the Region IV tournament. Those not making first or second team but receiving votes, will receive honorable mention recognition. Each district will rank the four nominees in order (1-5) with #1 being the top player in the district. A Player of the Year will be chosen from the all-region first team. A Coach of the year will be the Region IV Champion. 16. Rule Book: The National Federation Basketball Rules Book will govern this tournament unless VHSL or Region IV-adopted rules are in place. With the Piedmont and River Ridge having 6 half would by 3, but with the SWD having 7 now half would not be 3 so they round up and give them 4. Admission Fee: $5.00 [/ QUOTE ] i paid $6 at the district finals AT BASSETT. then i paid only $5 for the opening round of regionals AT MARTINSVILLE. then bassett charged $7 for the regional quarterfinals AT BASSETT the other night. their reasoning was that it was a "doubleheader"...with the girls game first. even though i'd rather watch paint dry than watch a high school girls game.
