is the new President of the United States.

Wow. I'm living in a Blue State now apparently??? I never thought I'd see that happen. This should be 4 interesting years.

Thanks God my state is a Red state. Almost Heaven, West Virginia. Actually I just moved to VA about 8 months ago. Its still pretty red in SWVA.

Wait, why are people in Latin America celebrating? and Kenya??? What does Barack Obama have to do with those people? This celebration that CNN is showing is a complete shit show.

But ladies and gentlemen, we've witnessed history. This is the Final Color Barrier that we have had to overcome. Regardless of political affiliation, this is a great moment in that regard...

From Wave 316:

looks like Obama wins Ohio, PENN, Va., Florida,etc... Im gratified that my county of Wise went 8900 to 4900 votes for MCcain. ALL southwest VA. went for MCcain except Dickenson county ,50 votes more for Obama. Northern Va. went for Obama. Looks like were headed for a welfare state. Looks like the terrorists are going to have a field day. Homosexuaul marriage expands nationally. Abortion continues. As a minister I am troubled. The change Obama touts is scary. I am not predudice. I have many black friends. The inexperience of Obama in foreign affairs is frightning. He appears very naieve. The hope for this nation is a spiritual revival and a turning back to the Lord. Violence is rampant ,drugs, pornography, disrespect for authority, laziness, much depression and fear sweeping the land... How much longer can we continue?? God have mercy on the U.S.A.

Freakin Virginia.

NoVA had Loudon county and Fairfax county vote Democrat. The 757 voted dem. and the 804 (richmond) voted democrat.

And Montgomery county.... (I apologize... I voted McCain.)

That was enough to swing our state? Does anyone care about SWVA, southside, or Central? Apparently not...

I disagree.

My President is black completely shows the ignorance and racism of this country.

Dickenson Co. went for McCain too, by about 40. The only from Lee to the Augusta-Pittsylvania line to go Obama was Montgomery Co.

Looking at the map on CNN, Obama got the key, big NOVA counties like Loudon and Fairfax, still a pretty good portion went for McCain though. A few central Va counties went for Obama along with a good portion of counties through the eastern shore and down into southeastern VA.

Ugh, oh well...

I'd be careful to not bring race into this too much. I feel like people simply associated McCain's label of "Republican" with Bush's administration (and the way he was shown in the public eye). Since they saw the word "Republican" as negative, why not vote for this charismatic guy that says he's gonna change stuff?

Its a song by Young Jeezy.. Obama is mixed and was born in Hawaii, While McCain was born outside the US.

we know, we know...

The color of your president should not affect your vote. Nor should you believe he will make one race better or treat another favorably. ignorance.

Not saying you, but the 1144147 on facebookwho think that.

There are really two different Virginias, and it takes an election to really show us that. >80% of the counties went for McCain. But those few that didn't are populous enough to swing it.

If nothing else, I'm glad this racial barrier was shattered tonight. But I pray Obama's the right man for the job. I'll support him as the President, and I'll approve of his actions in office until he gives me a reason not to.

The race issue is so stupid. On yahoo.com's main page the head line is "First Black President." Black people on facebook are saying things like, "We did it, a black president."

How can we move on from the past if every thing an African-American accomplishes is labeled as them being the first to do so. The average black person is not helping the cause to move on.

Quote from facebook. my president is black b*tches...f*** yall mccain bitchesss... black powerr..

Now who is bringing race into it.

Lets face it, 95% of black voters voted for Obama. 50% of new voters were black. Can all those vote one way truly and understand the issues? Race was an issue. Period.

Its racist to vote for McCain because of him being white and Obama black, same as it is to vote for Obama since he was black.

Truly saddening.

Seeing that, I feel like I didn't put enough emphasis on race. That facebook quote you gave is ridiculous.

But it's ever Americans right to vote. And reguardless of who they vote for. We can't have this anger for the next 4 years or we will just make racisim worse and alot more things in America worse.

I agree and I hope those within the Republican party will not be behave like the democrats have for the past 8 years. A lot more could have been achieved if Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, Harry Reid, Joe Biden, etc. were more concerned about the well being of our country instead of bringing up measures to impeach President Bush. I told you before that McCain has always been a candidate who has been willing to work with the other side, he reinforced that tonight in his concession speech. Its a shame that there aren't more public servants like him in office today.

Ive said it NUMEROUS times on this board. Bringing up race only breeds racism.

By claiming a "my President is black" brings up race.

If we want to end racism, it has to be from both sides. Period.

Honestly, I just hope that people do not have unrealistic expectations of Obama. Yes, we all know that this country is not in the greatest shape, but we musn't believe that Barack Obama will be the "Savior". Many people I have encountered have this vision that Obama is the Messiah and will bring change about the entire country and make this world perfect, and that, my friend, is fabrication at its finest. I hope for the best, I really and truly do. I am genuinely worried about a cult following of Obama and I hope and pray that it doesn't get to that level. I hope that Obama proves me wrong and can follow up. I truly hope I eat these words in four years. But chances are I'll be the guy pointing at everyone saying, "I told ya so."
