BiGBiLL 17 Report Share Posted October 3, 2009 Gate City is class They take a knee with first and goal from the two with over a minute left which would have made the final score anywhere from 28, 29, or 30 to 6. Bluefield is banged up, but Gate City's line play is extremely physical. Gate City isn't flashy, no wide open O, just solid and fundamentally sound and they've been that way for 50 years. Bluefield, as I predicted at the beginning of the season will finish 8 and 2 in the regular season with its losses coming to Charlotte Country Day and Gate City on the road. The Beavers make it at least to the state semi's and probably will play for a state title. GC played mistake free football and took advantage of Bluefields turnovers. By far (including Sullivan South) Bluefield IMHO is the best defensive team i have witnessed this year and for many years for that matter. Great game on both sides. brettc 10 Report Share Posted October 3, 2009 thank god the tigers finally won a game. Next up castlewood maybe the boys can get on a roll and get a little momentum before they open district play. Im a little suprised by the GC/Bluefield score thought it would be closer, still thought GC would win just not by that much.
