blueinbama 259 Report Share Posted November 28, 2010 You heard it here first... Do you really think anyone would want Rich Rod at this point? I count my blessings every time I hear his name that he didn’t come to Bama.

GMan 3,569 Author Report Share Posted November 29, 2010 John Gruden...heard it here first. Gruden will only go to an NFL team for the right price and situation...he's very happy with the job he has now, he has stated that MANY times in interviews... GMan 3,569 Author Report Share Posted November 29, 2010 Keep dreaming Alice. Not dreaming...he's out of Ann Arbor very soon. Miami NEEDS someone like him and his offense...with the athletes Miami has and the players he could recruit in FL for his system...perfect match. RichRod will be taking his talent to South Beach... blueinbama 259 Report Share Posted November 29, 2010 If no Gruden UM gauging the interest of Dan Mullen (Ms. State), Mark Richt (UGA), Jim Leavitt (South Florida) and CFL's Marc Trestman. http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/11/29/1947816/source-gruden-shows-interest-in.html

Leavitt would fit in, he was known to keep the pot stirred at USF (beating up players, players that could barely read earning degrees, multiple off-field issues with players, etc...). Not sure how Richt would fit in with the U's "history", but he has that Miami/South Beach arrogance thing down-pat. Trestman has ties to the U...was QB coach there back in the 80's during their prime years of thuggery...back when Miami was a feared opponent and winning National Championships. hokie07 11 Report Share Posted November 29, 2010 How about Mike Leach? A troubled past, but he's probably the best unemployed coach out there. If Miami won't look at him, then I believe someone else will. No way he spends more than a season out of the college football scene... Another one is June Jones. We know what he did at Hawaii. At SMU, he's gone 1-11, 7-5, and is now playing for a C-USA Championship this weekend. Granted it's C-USA, but to take one of the worst football programs in college football several years ago to competing for a conference championship is still impressive. June Jones + good DC + Miami athletes = MULTIPLE natties. That offense would be Hell on wheels.
Guest old_school Report Share Posted November 29, 2010 I think that Chris Peterson from Boise may consider it. After all TCU is going to the Big East, he lost to Nevada so no national championship for him and The U would give him a hell of a shot at it. It would be interesting. Mark Richt actually has a lot of ties to Miami. He was a quarterback there back in the Howard Schnellenberger days. I don't think he's a good fit, though, he is (or at least pretends to be) a disciplinarian, and I think at Miami, Shannon proved that it was all about the wins. Shannon made great strides to clean up the program, but since he didn't win (at least how Miami fans think about winning), he's out. Richt is taking heat for Georgia's worst season in a while, but I think he'll weather the storm. They're 6-6, but came on strong later in the season, to make up for the horrid first half of the season.

fieldgeneral 10 Report Share Posted November 30, 2010 And Michigan doesn't???? They are the winningest program in history, but they are unwilllingly getting accustomed to not winning championships, it's been quite a while. It's more of a getting used to not winning games, they haven't won NC for quite some time. 1997 was their last and it was split with Nebraska....before that 1948 was the last. They have won a lot of games, but they haven't transitioned well into the new era of football and I think they were hoping that getting a good young coach in Rodriguez would have fixed that........ How'd that work out for ya Michigan. No matter the lack of NC, still a program where the boosters want a top 10 program every year. (They just can't beat Tressel.)
