futbolking 766 Report Share Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) Watching the Floyd game its 17 12 Floyd in the second Patrick henry has missed so easy shots after seeing them in person I think every SWD team could beat them they press but leave big holes in it came up to see a great team is what someone called if you want to see a great game come to Patrick county Mon and watch Richlands and Patrick And you can determine that after watching 1 quarter of play???? Were you watching the same game as me?? I was there...Floyd destroyed them....and had a very poor shooting night.....missing a lot of layups....and they were ice cold from 3 point range... Who was comparing them to Richlands anyway??? not me, I just simply said come out and watch a good team play.....BUT since you bring it up....I'd say Floyd by about 30 over Richlands....that would be a safe bet. As for Patrick County...I've been watching Floyd play Patrick County for the past 12 years and I don't think Patrick County has beaten them in all of that time.... Do you seriously think that Patrick County is a quality team???? As for a lot of holes on defense??? Maybe early on, but they corrected it and ended up with about 20 steals from their press....come on. Girls basketball in the SWD has a long way to go to catch up with Floyd County, don't kid yourself. And lastly, I'd just like to say....Floyd County 58... Early, PH was taking advantage of the 2-2-1 press and leaking two deep for a few easy looks. Once Floyd adjusted the press, that went away. What I saw was a long, athletic group that uses relentless pressure and a deep roster to control the game. PH played well in the first half, but were just worn down trying to rotate 8 girls against a 13 player rotation. BTW, I heard some Radford fans commenting that the Floyd girls do what Radford's boys do to opponents. And they are so right. You and I saw the same game.... Radford is a first rate BBall program. They play a fast paced, agressive style of basketball and they are good at it. Graham is young and could learn from this experience. I don't know much about Gate City this year...but they've had some really good teams over the past 10 years or so. It may be an early exit for the G-Men. But, like I stated earlier they are very young and I don't think anybody realistically expected them to make it this far. They've had a good season and hopefully they can pull the upset and it will continue. Great City 210 Report Share Posted February 25, 2013 The Gate City boy's team also plays a fast paced, aggressive game. Man-to-man, aggressive defense. Push the ball up the court quickly and score. They rotate 9 players in and out of the game and attack (offense and defense) the whole game. However, they have a lot of turnovers becasue of the way they push the ball up the court. IF they are hitting their outside shots, they are a pretty tough team. If they are not hitting from the outside, anyone in the state could beat them. They also lost a quality big man in the Union game. Blew out a knee. MRI this week, don't think it is possible that he returns this year. The Gate City girl's team also tries to play a fast paced, aggressive game, just not as fast paced and aggressive as the boy's team. They don't have a senior who dresses out. If this group could make 70% of their shots in the paint, they would win some games. They have some quality underclassmen. Should be pretty tough next year.
