Bearcat Bob 491 Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 You are correct in that Martinsville, Dan River and I am sure others from that area will be strong. I was just speaking mostly of the Shenandoah and Bull Run Districts (Conferences 35 and 36). I have only seen Altavista out of the Dogwood when they played Spotswood. BigWinners 1,643 Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 I have heard Martinsville is the team to beat right now, they are loaded if I heard right.
pdfan 101 Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 Don't discount Dan River either. Martinsville beat them 50-39 earlier in the year but their big man Edmunds was only playing his 2nd or 3rd game after returning from an injury from football.(he's going to Tech next year on football scholly) They have beat AltaVista by 19 recently and play them again tomorrow night at home. Mavahi and Dan River are both very quick and have good size with the Holland boy from the Bulldogs being 6-6 or 6-7 and Dan River has 2 or 3 guys in the 6-4, 6-5 range. Both teams are not unbeatable, but both are pretty solid teams.
BigWinners 1,643 Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 I had just heard Martinsville was the class of the area, I really dont follow basketball much outside of the local schools unless Union is playing them.
Bearcat Bob 491 Report Share Posted January 29, 2015 Altavista's stud is out for a few games due an injury. They are still good without him but I would like to see DR against a healthy Altavista.
pdfan 101 Report Share Posted January 30, 2015 Vista is tough and when they get one of the big boys back they will really be a handful for anyone to beat. Should come down between them and Radford this year in 1A, I believe anything else would be an upset.
