swva_havok_fan 1,261 Author Report Share Posted February 19, 2016 Also, brought to my attention earlier this week and I'm sure I may have been the only goofball who didn't know this, but the state tournament is expanded to eight teams this season. Basically, if you win your opening round regional game you're in the state tournament somewhere. 1A and 2A state Bracket looks like this: East #4 at West #1 West #3 at East #2 West #4 at East #1 East #3 at West #2 So, I am assuming each regional tournament will also have a third place game to decide the 3 and 4 seeds from each region as well. Last year Crooked Road played Western Gate. So Haysi boys had to travel to Radford (not bad for me because I work in Abingdon and it was only a little over an hour drive from work) and Covington boys came to Honaker. It kinda hurts we got grouped in the same side of the regional bracket because now one team will have a road trip for their quarterfinal (possibly a long one at that!).
