BigWinners 1,643 Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 Found this interesting tidbit on the VHSL reference twitter. What area code has the most state titles since 1900? (I assume its 1900-now, judging by totals). 540-20 757-19 434-19 804-14 703-12 276-7 571-5 540 still has more than 757. That's pretty neat. https://mobile.twitter.com/vhslreference/status/795808221336371204
BigWinners 1,643 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 I didnt realize how much area the 540 used to cover before 276 took over out here. When did it split, like 2002?
1inStripes 932 Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 540 use to be 703 until probably 1990 or so. Not sure if that figure has factored in those changes as well or not. Jason

Bigrhsfan 884 Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 I know here in Richlands, we were 540 for as long as I can remember until the switch to 276, but because of my gray hair syndrome, I can't remember when the switch happened. jarhead24219

Jason 299 Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 I can remember trying to get used to 540...and 276 both. Seemed like as soon as I got used to 540 it switched to 276. sup_rbeast
BigWinners 1,643 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2016 The fact 703/276 are on the list as well as 540 speaks to the talent in this half of the state. The 757 has been same area code as long as I can remember, while the 540 lost teams in this end when 276 took over (only had it for ten years, 703 was here from at least my birth in 87 til 95 like y'all said). sixcat 2,922 Report Share Posted November 10, 2016 757 has actually only existed since July 1996. It hasn't been around as long as 540.
