Milo seemed eager to skip the conference tournaments and go straight to the regionals, so I figured I could at least provide my due diligence and at least go ahead and post the thread:

Am I incorrect in thinking that the conference tourney champ is the #1 seed? The regular season champ gets an automatic bid but not guaranteed #1 unless they win the tourney? I know it at least used to be that way. Maybe its changed and I just missed it.

Nah... The #1 seed coming form conference is the reg season winner.

In Conf 38 Martinsville won the regular season and is guaranteed a region spot but they must win the tournament to get the #1 seed. It's been that way since they started this conference stuff a few years ago in Conf 38.

Thats the way I thought it worked.. I can't imagine it would be different in different conferences but I guess it could happen.

Graham won the regular season of the SEC last year. Richlands won the SEC Tournament. Graham was the 1 seed. In the SEC, the regular season winner is guaranteed the 1 seed in the region regardless of what happens in the tournament.

I guess things are different down here since the 5 conference teams are in 3 districts. Martinsville being in the Piedmont only plays the other 4 teams once during the regular season so they seed by those. Giles plays Floyd in the 4-5 game Monday with the winner playing the Dogs Wed at JR. James River plays Glenvar in the 2-3 game on Wed with the winners playing Friday for the #1 seed from Conf 38. #2 seed will probably have to travel to Dan River to play. They hadn't lost a home game in about 4-5 years until Halifax Co won in Ringgold last week. Ought to be a fun these next 2-3 weeks

I'm not 100% sure about CH yet, but at last check Dan River and Chatham respectively were leading boys and girls...

I'm pretty sure it is Gretna, not Chatham as the #1 girls team out of Conference 37
