Bluefield researcher 1,195 Report Share Posted October 15, 2019 Does the VHSL release these to the media or anyone else in some kind of document such as a Word file, Excel or PDF? I would like to put them on www.fourseasonsfootball.com and keep them there for historical purposes.

It looks like Pikeville has Jenkins on their schedule. Does a forfeited game give points? How will that factor in.

Something interesting about this game, it is still listed on the Kentucky scoreboard site. Pic below. So, I guess it will come down to how the VHSL views it. Not sure about all, but several of the school playing Bland chose NOT to take the forfeit out of fear it would have hurt their rating. If VHSL views it as a legitimate forfeit, then it will be counted as a win for Pikeville. Giving Ridgeview 2 pts if they win or 1 pt if they lose. Ryan4VT 4,557 Report Share Posted October 15, 2019 I think the VHSL has counted Jenkins as true Forfeits this season.
VHSLhelper 571 Report Share Posted October 15, 2019 Jenkins started the season and played games, so the non-played games are forfeits. Pikeville ... well... here's basically the deal... It's NOT how the VHSL views it... it's how KY views it. Ky. announced that they would start using a modified RPI system this season for playoff seeding once they get to the 3rd round. Games had to be scheduled by (I think it was) Oct. 1st to 'count'. So Pikeville is stuck with the FFT for RPI purposes, but they've been looking for a 10th game. I haven't seen anything about a deadline for schedules, so it's possible they may still find someone for a game on the 25th (they've aleady had their bye week). I have a friend inside the Pikeville program and he said that he is 90% sure it will be an official forfeit and a win for Pikeville by forfeit. I would have to respectfully disagree with the statement in bold. The VHSL is the governing body of Virginia HS athletics, so they would have the final say so over whether or not that game counts for the points/seeding purpose of a Virginia team. Just because KY views it as whatever doesn't mean that the VHSL is going to automatically say "OK". I think there's precedent on this. In 2015 Dan River received a forfeit from their game against Bartlett Yancey. Dan River said they had a contract, Bartlett Yancey said they didn't. BY had another game scheduled in their place, Person, NC I think, and it was obviously recognized by the NCHSAA as a legitimate game. Even though NC viewed it as BY never having a game with DR, the VHSL didn't automatically view it the same way. They viewed it as a forfeit by BY and awarded DR points as if though they played and won. Now, with that being said, it should be viewed as a forfeit and Ridgeview should be entitled to the 1 or 2 pts it will generate for them. I just don't agree that the VHSL is automatically going to agree with the decision of a neighboring state's HS athletic body just because.
