Gridiron60 2,555 Report Share Posted April 22, 2022 Lady Bulldog softball may have the next Mac Osborne of the SWD in Carly Compton. It seems Tazewell is set to be the top dawg in softball the next few years as Compton is only a freshman! Real Sasquatch

I believe she broke the school record already with 18 strikeouts in one game (maybe 19). Somebody may be able to clarify. I predict she will be a D-1 prospect in the future. The quality of softball period in SWVA is impressive. If someone could block off Radford westward, you could field a highly competitive D1 team from this area alone. Ive been fortunate to work with a few of those who are in that current group and watch them face many others. Year after year it is the most competitive sport top to bottom in SWVA. Even the worst teams play typically at a higher level than the worst teams of other sports.

sixcat 2,919 Report Share Posted May 18, 2022 Tazewell, and specifically Carly Compton, were impressive taking Carroll County 9-innings Monday night. Carroll ultimately won the game 3-2 but for Tazewell to compete like that against a state championship caliber Class 3 team is impressive. Carroll managed two baserunners through 6-2/3 innings and finished with 6 hits off Compton. Carroll D1 pitching prospect Emma Leath carried a no-hitter into the 9th inning and finished with one hit and 14 strikeouts. All 5 runs were scored in the 9th inning. If Tazewell can figure out how to get baserunners when facing quality pitching, they should do some damage in the Class 2 playoffs.
