Queue Posted November 5 Report Posted November 5 Thanks!! Q: What's the difference on the two sheet versions where GC could finish as high as 3 on the first sheet, but only as high as 4 on the "tight" one?? (Also, Lebanon has a variation, I think.) Quote
VHSLhelper Posted November 5 Author Report Posted November 5 I'll look over that tonight thanks Quote

VHSLhelper Posted November 5 Author Report Posted November 5 Lebanon's 8 was obviously just a typo I caught when tightening. - - Just going by the numbers, Gate City can outpoint Ridgeview 218-215. BUT b/c both get the same bonus points in a lot of the games, it's not actually possible for Gate City to outpoint Ridgeview . So I changed GC's max seed to 4 when I tightened things up. Quote
footballfan1 Posted November 7 Report Posted November 7 Does the overall record count as the first tie-braker for seeding if two schools finish with the same number of points if there is no head-to-head game involving the two teams; or does it go to W-L record in their district? For instance, a (6-4) team (2-3 in their district) and a (5-5) team (3-2 in their district) both finish with 165 points, would the higher seed go to the (5-5) team having the better district record or to the (6-4) team having the better overall record? Assuming nothing has changed... (a) The Rating Scale-Considering all regular season games played against public and non-public Virginia schools and scheduled in accordance with the provisions of 68-4-6. (b) The winner of any games between the two tied teams if only the tied teams are involved. If more than two teams tied, and one of the tied teams beat all other tied teams, that team shall advance. (c) The team with the better record against all common opponents. (d) A team that played an opponent with an effective nine (9) game schedule (non-recognized opponent, i.e., home school or out-of-state non-public school, or inability to schedule/play a 10th game) shall be seeded ahead of a school whose opponents play 10 game schedules. (e) Schools that played an opponent with nine-game schedules shall be seeded ahead of opponents who played 10-game schedules. (f) The team with the highest winning percentage against rating scale recognized opponents. (g) The team with the higher average rating of all of each team's opponents. (h) The team with the higher average rating of all of each team's VHSL public and VHSL non-public school opponents (i) The regional chairman, or his/her alternate if his/her school is involved, shall draw by lot to determine the playoff representative. (j) The group chairman or vice chairman if the chairman's school is involved, shall draw by lot to determine the playoff representative. Should both the group chair and vice chair be involved in the tie the group secretary would oversee the process. footballfan1 1 Quote
VHSLhelper Posted November 8 Author Report Posted November 8 district record is not one of the 7 tie-breakers... 1. beat all other teams tied with 2. better record against all common opponents 3. any opponent had an effective 9 game schedule (this basically means 9 games for ratings purposes) 4. highest winning percentage against rating scale-recognized opponents (more commonly called best overall record) 5. highest average rating of all opponents 6. highest average rating of VHSL opponents 7. draw by lots by the Regional chair or Group chair or Group secretary footballfan1 1 Quote
