The Jefferson area and all of the eastern panhandle is the fastest growing area in the state.

True that area is just an extension of Northern Virginia and DC sprawl....

In response to Princeton "building" their economy out by the interchange, lets keep in mind that none of that area is in the city of Princeton. That is all outside the city limits and the city of Princeton gets nothing from taxes from any of that area. So the businesses don't have to pay anything but county taxes and its near a major interchange. Makes it look like Princeton is doing so much, when in actuality, they are NOT!

Never underestimate the power of visual interpretation.

so why cant they give bluefield money for turf and let the city of bluefield offer the field at the cost of nothing at least a 5 or 10 years or so or something. and another thing what does anybody really get from the board besides princeton example bluefield high once again had to get money from the schott foundation for the peforming arts center

You have to make an arguement for the Mercer County School Board to release funds to Bluefield (Mitchell) when most of the tax revenues for Mercer County are being collected in Princeton, and that's very tough to do.

It's easy for the county commission and school board to justify to the public about spending tax money in Princeton if that is where their primary tax base is located. It's even easier to explain the spending when the majority of the county's economic growth is in Princeton.

It seems bluefield was seeking funding for field turf themselves anyhow though, they'd be wise to go ahead with that and not wait on or expect funding from the board of education for anything, if at any point that is a reality all the better, but they shouldn't expect it....
