Some commentary from my dad...

--The field is wet and slick. Something about there being mud under it (??)

--Bluefield hasn't run the ball well...Wayne has a good size defensive line, and it's not working.

--Bluefield finally got the pass game uncorked late in the half.

--Bluefield is capitalizing on Wayne's mistakes, which are plenty.

(my dad is sort of a pessimist, so take it all in context...LOL)

#1 - According to the radio guys...the field is wet but not slick. The mud is from when the Ohio R. flooded the field in Sept...under 9 ft. of water. Now they say it is getting slick...the moisture is freezing!!!

#2 - Bluefield has about 75 yards of total offense but has had a short field most of the night.

#3 - Coeburn threw a fade to Repass. They've had receivers open but Coeburn has not connected.

#4 - Lots of Wayne mistakes...turnovers, bad snaps on punts, shanked punts, etc.... Wayne broke a 51 yard run on the first play of the game...they have 30 +/- total yards at the half...

wow...sounds like Wayne is playing like Grundy in the Richlands game...they have got to be hating this...get to the big dance and the wheels come off in Wheeling.

Still a lot of ball to play...but wow...congrats to the Beavers!

Don't want to say for sure, but I am thinking 100.9 on the FM dial and 1440 on the AM dial.

Also, the game is allegedly on Comcast channel 13 (it's the CBS 59 out of Ghent) on tape delay at 11:30 pm tonight.

If this were a college game, I'd suggest that Bluefield is playing Beamerball...capitalizing on opponent mistakes.

I'm from Shady Spring. We had a good run this year, and to ease the pain from a semi final loss to Wayne I had hopes of them to win. However those hopes were selfish, Bluefield players and fans deserve to finally pull in the championship that has been kept from them the past wo years. They have a good tradition at Bluefield and their players work hard, they were by far the best team we played. My hat's off to the Beavers on an excellent undefeated season I'm glad you finally reached your goal you've worked so hard for. Like I said earlier you deserve it, it's been kept from you and no matter what happened this year(Mount View, Weir Games) you found a way to come back and win with hardly enough time left in a game to make any margin of success, you find a way to win, it takes a great deal of heart to pull off those feats. Congrats

This win is an emphatic cap to another 14-0 season. I had faith in the Beavers, and they apparently had faith in themselves, annihilating Wayne.

Congratulations to the Bluefield Beavers, the 2004 West Virginia AA State champs!

Note: A 41-yard field goal is the state record? That seems short.
