Gate City up 28-0 after 1st Qtr.

Gate City plays quite a few underclassmen also. That being said, I can see Union blowing them out of the water after last years games but then again every time I've ever expected us to get whipped we seem to find a way to be in the game. Luckily I'm not a betting man.

I'm proud of the boys for not folding tonight when they were down by 2 scores. We had several chances to pour kerosene down their nest but we didn't take advantage. I'll still take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day of the week though. Now they can focus on Abingdon next week.

There's a video on YouTube from back then when WCYB was covering it. I think the grandfather of one of the players said he was concerned over the threat.

Final GC 34, Richlands 7. Hopefully we'll clean up some mistakes from tonight and be ready for Middlesboro next week but they deserve to enjoy this one.

Well we just handwrapped one for them. QB tossed the ball to avoid a safety and it was intercepted in the end zone. TD Richlands. GC 13-7

End of the 1st. GC 13-0 but Richlands is driving.

I'll take a 1 point win any day of the week.

This one could go either way. Our offensive line has me worried so our QB's will be on the move all night. Luckily for us they're very good on the run. I thought the backup played very well last week against VA High considering. One bright spot however is how they're running to the ball on defense. I look for this to be a close one.

From what I've gathered he's fine. We'll see a young QB out there tonight though.

First day in pads and it was against a 6A school that has already scrimmaged. I don't take much away from these first scrimmages but the line definitely needs work on both sides of the ball before the trip to Richlands. We'll see how things look against Virginia High next Thursday. Having said that, I think our only score came from a lineman with a fumble return towards the end of the scrimmage..lol. I heard we had a couple of starting linemen out also but like I said we'll hopefully see improvement next week.

I knew it couldn't have been us. The season hasn't started yet. 😂

Gate City scrimmages at West Ridge Tuesday but not sure of a time.

Gate City hosts Virginia High in a benefit game that week but not sure of the date. I've heard Thursday and Friday.

Low to Mid 50's.

I'm trying hard to like these gray uni's for this year. The helmets are great but not so sure about "The City". Then again as long as we win they can put "Tater Salad" on them for all I care.

Bingo! I counted 60-70 on the 3 GC little league teams combined for this year and noticed several others were asking how to sign up. A couple of years ago we had 26 players on varsity and thankfully the interest and desire has seemed to have returned.

The GC Radio guys "guesstimated" 54 at Midnight Madness but it sure looked like there were several more than that to me. Then again i'm gettin older.

I don't remember Forest bringing many at all honestly which surprised me. I still don't see how we won that game. That was the prettiest ugly kick I've ever seen.
