It could be that they don't have much in the kicking department, it could be fear of long returns resulting in the same field position given up on an onsides attempt or scores. Northwood has done something like this on kick-offs for years, they will either attempt the onside or they pooch kick it towards the sideline, in this case they have a good shot at getting to the ball first or they have people there to cover the returner as soon as he touched the ball, or if it goes out of bounds the ball is at the 35 anyway. (they've have not had a kicker that could put it in the end-zone or help keep the other team behind the 20 in 10+ years)

Northwood's game with Bland was also moved from Sept. 9 to Sept. 8.

I am sure population decline has some to do with it and the risk of getting injured. But I remember playing little league baseball and football and we had 7 baseball teams and 4 football teams in town,(saltville/rich valley) never traveled any where. We played 8 to 12 year olds on the same teams, they were not split up by ages or grades that makes a difference on how many teams you have in your town or league.

Over on the old HOGO site, they did this very thing for 1 year. The called it HOGO Gameday. It was pretty cool, but MONEY issues was the biggest killer of it.

He shut the site down. He was running it for profit, not enough buyers.

Ryan they look great. I only see one problem, Fort Chiswell is not in the Hogoheegee District.

Northwood lost a lot. QB, Linemen (both sides of the ball), receivers (main target). Not sure what to expect from them this year. Who knows they could go back to ground and pound.

He won several at Rural Retreat in the last few minutes of the game. Because of conditioning and discipline.

That game had nothing to do with not renewing the series. It had already been announced, that would be the last game between the 2 for the foreseeable future. That was a great game though.

If Akers was to get the Gate City job, you will see a return to the ground and pound. That is if he doesn't change up his offense. At Rural Retreat he runs a split back field, veer oriented. Loves the option with a quick/fast QB. Short quick passes slants, flats. He has been pretty good with it a RR.
