With all do respect to all and yes I pull for Union I do not think the power running game is the same as last year. The Bears have a handful of great running backs 4 I think can get going and really set the tone of a game. I also know that the defense is very suspect imo. Its hard for me to believe this will be a close game but it very well could be.

7-3 or 6-4 would be my guess but as we all know anything can happen. Central will be hard to handle when Collier gets healthy (which I hope is soon) that will be a whale of a game to watch. Either way I wish all teams the best of luck and hope all kids stay healthy this year and bring a title back to SWVA.

Asbury throws for at least 300 yards and 6 TD's against a young green secondary for the bears. Score could be high as Union has potential to score, just don't think the defense of the Bears I watched Thursday can handle a well coached talented team like Richlands. The streak stops Friday. Could be a long season for the Bears.

Chop block was bad and i won't get into sportsmanship. I will get into class. Coach Clifton had to turn around and tell fans players and coaches to have some respect as Jake laid on the ground in tremendous pain. Hats of to you coach. I was standing in the corner of the end zone on Glenvar side of field when he did this and it got very quite.

Hell of a game. Glenvar has a fine ball club best line in state no buying it but were very good. Union will have to get out of taking a quarter break in games or the road is short. Hope 13 recovers from the chop block (intentional) in my opinion but that's the way it goes

I will end with this as I dont want in a pissing match. It was a hell of a game sportsmanship garbage touchdowns aside both teams played hard and if not for a turnover and a injury they may still be playing. Two good teams one had to lose hate it ended the way it did but can't change it now.

I agree I wasn't on the field it may have been both ways. I played and know how emotions come into play. By no means taking away from a very good team who in my opinion could have and possible would have won if not for the fumble before the half and the injury to the stud running back. It is what it is I saw the poor sportsmanship from players and coaches from the G Men and one on union. Good people I'm sure great season nothing to be ashamed of Union is a pretty good team and gave them a run for their money.

excuse me for stating the truth but for graham to mention class is just insane. Played them twice that I have saw and not sure if they are not disciplined by coaching staff or need anger management. As long as they were in the game wasn't to bad but once got out of hand tried to lure union players into doing the same stupidd stuff but didn't work. Was a god game two studs for the G men were very impressive. God luck to all still playing

What really get me is that i think it has been 5 or 6 straight middle school (7th and 8th grade) seasons that they haven't lost a game to a Virginia team. May be wrong but that"s what i heard last Monday when they played Union. Hell of a team very good athletes. What happens to them as they move up to JV and varsity?

Agree 100% Ryan. Would not surprise me to see GC make a good run at it come playoff time. I had heard or read they need to win out to make it is that the case or some crazy rumor? Sounds about right but wasn't sure. Congrats to the Blue Devils should make for a good playoff if they make it in.

It also happened in the late 90's when a bunch of thugs sent some crap video tape to a star Appalachia running back and to sum it up 2 days befor the game the Appy kid went to BSG and put a thumping on the kid that sent the tape. As to the Mr D incident I do remember that very well and yes it probably was intentional as the player who did it was a punk. I know this because I played one year with him. The funny part of the story was when the players dad came out on the field and tried to start a fight with Tom Turner (which was not a good idea) then hurried off the field. Every team at some point has had a bad apple but can't judge a program off of one bad decision with the exception of Coeburn. They couldn't win games or fights lol

I agree I was just pointing out as a union fan I would hate to see them play again. Both are very good teams and putting the Union fan factor aside I'm pulling for any SWVA team to bring home the title. I will catch some kind of hell for stating my opinion but here it is. I wouldn't be surprised to see Union drop the ball in one of the nest the next two weeks and lose a game they are supposed to win. Will find out tomorrow night I suppose. Looking for a hech of a game and have a feeling it will be very chippy with a good possibility of some ejections. The smack talk already was getting heated Monday at the Lee Union JV game. All valid points I agree the schedule is tough and yes I think they are down a little this year. As for a kid or 5 quitting the team what has happened to the youth and parents these days. I am old school and yes I played for Appalachia 92 thru 94 season and had I went home and told my parents i had quit mid season well i would have been beat to death. Yes back in the day you could beat your kid and not go to jail lol. I hope they can get it together and represent SWVA in the playoffs. I for one as a Union and the rest of SWVA football fan hope to see all teams make a run and i really dread drawing Richlands or a down GC team in the playoffs. would love to see Union and Richlands 1 and 2 run the table cross bracket and play for the title if thats even possible. Excuse my ignorance on this system as I don't keep up with how it works past the 3rd round as thats as far as Union has ever made it haha. Good luck and safe travel to all teams this week.

Congrats to the Pack. With all due respect to both teams WHAT HAPPENED!! I have seen nothing about about the game were turnovers a issue, rain, or just out played? I do not mean to take anything away from RV just curious was GC that bad or did the return of the starters for the Pack make that much of a difference. Once again CONGRATS on the big win.

WOW!!!! didn't think i would see a better game than Union and Richlands but let me tell you Gate City came to play. This has been some of the best football i have seen in some time. Not just one game but as a season so far I am very impressed. GateCity will be a hard win for anyone they play from here on out. Don't let the record fool you. 3 of the best teams in the state Union Richlands and Gate City IMO. Would be surprised if one of the 3 don't bring a state title home this year. Gavin did not have the spiral fracture once though it was. However he does have a half cast on that will somewhat affect his catching the ball. I hope for a good game and all players stay healthy but I don't see this as a big blowout. Turner has respect for Mullins and in the case it were to get ugly (not saying it will) I think younger players will get some game time. High school football can get crazy I see union winning by 2 scores with Rv getting some late points on the board.

To be honest Ryan I feel they do this to deter people from going out to vehicles to have a drink or to smoke since you can't inside the gate. Either way it is ridiculous to me also.

I agree it started off a little rough but I saw a few call that should have been called on Union that weren't. This may sound crazy to most and i agree with safety, but football is a contact sport. I don't think the targeting to the head was intentional I just think there were two teams playing their hearts out.
